good morning all not been on for a while since i lost rosie , been trying to keep myself busy !

anyways just wanted to tell you that on wednesday i became a mum again to a lovely baby boy (all 3 stone of him lol)called buster , he is 9 months and is such a sweetheart ,
his previous owners have split up and as she works a 14 hr shift was unable to care for him so i decided i would take him before he ended up somewhere thats not right .

buster is settling in very well a few toilet issues at night but last 2 nights he has been a star i have a few questions if you could spare the time as im a little new to this toddler stage Big Grin

1. from a pup he was in a crate during the day i have not crated him and don't really want to he is left with the run of the house during the night and just goes sleep on the settee , he has not been left during the day yet which he will be alone fo 2 hrs and then after a walk another 2 hrs should i expect the same during the day i.e sleeping ? or am i been daft LOL

2. he has been fantastic with everyone including my 6 yr old gets very excited no barking and fetches his ball to play .....but when the inlaws payed a visit he went nuts growling and barking for about 15 mins at them(can't blame him i dunna like em either lol) me and hubby were left looking at one another after there short stay of 20 mins lol im a little confused as he has met over 25 people in the last few days any ideas ?

3. he hates my cats lol they are both 17 yrs old and im scared to let them confront one another incase he eats them should i even try to let them meet as his hair went up on his back and he nearly put the patio window thro !!!has he gone past the age to except the cats now ?

as you can tell im not to updated on young ens as my last 2 staffs were older resues buster has been puppy classes and socialised and behaviour classes so is a dream at the moment which i am keeping up with

thanx for reading if your still awake LOL and i will try post a picture of buster x

Well done on the rescue its always good to hear.
New home new rules i think it would be good to go back to basic training.
when people come over to visit have him on the lead so he can not avoid the situation and give corrections when he shows behaviour you do not want. distract him with food or toys when he is calm, have your guests give a him a treat or two just so he gets close enough to them to have a sniff (introduction) and for him to realise there is no harm and you are in control of the situation and who comes and goes in and out of your house, again with the cats have him on a lead and give him corrections, once he is calm allow him to sniff one of the cats (thats all he needs to do)
I don't think it would be wise to leave them alone but under your watch give praise when ever he shows a wanted behaviour like staying calm around the cats, not excited excitment leads to trouble as well. Keep at it its not going to be an easy fix and over time he will either just ignore the cats or be calm around them.

What a lovely boy!

I agree with Claire - back to basics & introduce him slowly & calmly to the new rules he must get used to.
