Voluntary Work
Has anyone here ever done any voluntary work ? Apart from the forum I mean. I am thinking of doing some but not too sure what to do ? I would love to do something environmental just not sure how to go about it.

Re: Voluntary Work
Kathy if you go to your local library they normally have lists of voluntry centre, shops etc and contacts
well it has to be something like the PDSA, or something else to close to your heart. and as you are voluntray you only work the hours you want too. Have you got a rehoming center nearby they always neeed warkels

Re: Voluntary Work
if I am correct our local stepping stones is to help people with MH issues on their way back to work. The work is obviously demanding but very satisfying you such a kind caring person it would be hands on but only you know how much you want to do

Re: Voluntary Work
That position is helping homeless men and women find education, training & employment as well as more permanent accommodation, sounds very interesting and right up my strata

Re: Voluntary Work
It sounds very rewarding and may also be a stepping stone for me too getting back into paid employment.

Re: Voluntary Work
I have have volunteered as a dog walker at a shelter, as an enabler for children with learning difficulties and at a kitchen for homeless people during the holidays. Looking into becoming an advocate for young offenders also. I found most of my opportunities online via a volunteering website, can't remember what it was called though, sorry! Might have been just do it? Or something along those lines. There's always voluntary work around, I'm sure you'll find something that you can get stuck into

Re: Voluntary Work
I've done the Big Brother Program, taught martial arts to at risk youths, helped with vererans and the homeless, done chairty fights and other fund raising for orphanges, and of course rescue centers.
If you talk with someone in the organization they will let you know how to help.

Re: Voluntary Work
I volunteered at a play scheme special needs children, then at a respite centre again for special needs children. Then I joined Pets As Therapy, I now volunteer with Riding for the Disabled.

Re: Voluntary Work
Just phoned to get more details, they are putting a form in the post for me to complete along with the hours I could do. The lady I spoke to, who is the CEO of Beds Housing Link, sounded so pleased that someone was interested in the postition. Cannot wait to get started now
