at my wits end :-(
My boy is now 14 weeks old, he's a gorgeous boy and I love him to bits, BUT....his biting and attacking is getting out of control, we have done all the usual obedience stuff, he does sit, give paw, lays down and roll over, he's brilliant on a lead and has good recall, always comes back when I squeeze his squeaky toy.
I walk him twice a day and he has loads of chew toys, but the biting isn't ceasing, I can't even stroke him without him biting me, it's not nipping either, it's proper teeth into skin. My daughter now says she hates him because all he does is attack her and my son can't even walk across the living room without being lunged at.
Today, a friend came over and he bit her on the back of her leg!!
I don't want to get to the stage where he has to be penned whenever anyone comes round, I don't know what to do :-(

Have you read this?
http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/stop_your_staffy_puppy_biting
It really is normal puppy behavior, though some are worse than others, there is no quick fix, with training they do grow out of it, I promise xxx

Re: at my wits end :-(
You are definitely not alone. I have the same issue with 14 week old Barney.
I know from experience (Barney is my 4th SBT) that it does stop eventually but forgot just how long it can take.
THEY DO GET THERE!

I'm sorry to hear, it feels so awful when you're in the thick of it I know ! My pup is 5 months now and is a lot better than he was, prior he was like a snapping crocodile it drove us all insane !!! Hang in there, keep telling him no, reward the good behaviour, walk away & turn your back and if he nips put him into time out he WILL soon learn. He will get there, I promise you !!! Remember we're all here and happy to listen/give advice, rant away any time x

Like everyone says I does get easier, patience and persistence is the key, god I wouldn't wish puppyhood on anyone, it's bloody hard work, but it very rewarding! I remember thinking omg what have I done! but all my hard work payed off.

It does get better. Tip used to bite our ankles and chew like crazy but she has settled down. The key is that EVERYONE must maintain the same training. And it must be constantly inforced. Raising a puppy is maddening yet when they snap wahat you trying to teach them it's awesome. Just be consistent and it pays off. They do get better.

Re: at my wits end :-(
I actually liked this little phase when Mase was a pup. He loved having a little chew on my hand and every time he dived at me I just couldn't help but laugh and have a little play with him. They do grow out of it but instead of getting angry and irritated by it just try and take it in a good way. Remember they are little doggies and whilst they are growing they love trying to sink their little teeth into everything and anything. If you wasn't there to bite it could be a nice bit of your furniture getting it instead

Re: at my wits end :-(
Have you considered a stag bar ? they are great for chewers and relatively inexpensive too, please don't leave puppy alone with the stag bar all day though. Do a check on line for other suppliers:

Th elink Sazzle provided is excellent. It's completly normal behaviour and although very frustrating is nothing to be overly concerned about he is simply exploring the world similar to a human baby using his mouth. He is also learning bite inhibition to distinguish being playful with hurting.
He will also start to teeth soon so frozen snacks like a stuffed kong will be helpful

Re: at my wits end :-(
Both of ours did this and we had 2 puppies together so it was hard sometimes. Always wear shoes and jeans! And it definitely does pass! We always put a toy in their mouths, now they grab a toy before they greet us

Re: at my wits end :-(
Hi im sorry to hear ur havin a tough time.
I got my staffy a year ago and she was an only pup so bite inhibition wasnt learnt and weve had a struggle with her and its caused fall outs and tears but everyone on here can help. I think consistency with everyone involved is the key.
Good luck

It can be very frustrating cant it but it will get better, Gordon used to bite when he got excited or bored so we found putting a chew or toy in his mouth when he did this

Thanks for all the replies, I think some days are worse than others and I was clearly having a bad day when I posted!!
I've since read lots of posts on here and I've come to the conclusion that I'm not alone, it's easy to write this now while my gorgeous boy is snoring soundly next to me :-) x
Thanks again guys x
