Black and Tan Staffs

Hi   

I know that the black and tan is not seen as a 'desirable' colour for a staff but I just love them, possibly because of my dad owning a rotty. But anyway what are the chances in coming across one? do they cost less/more because of the colour etc etc etc any information would be brilliant thanks!

Not sure but I love the colour too having had rotties and Dachsunds

I also love the black and tan colouring and I also love Rotties. I have seen some around but they don't seem to be as popular as other colours.

I don't think it is a natural colour for staff and only occurs from cross breeding x

I`ve not seen a black and tan staff before but i`m sure it be as cute as the rest

This is the litter mine came from was 2 black,tan and white.

I've seen them but rarely. I think the colour comes from the terrier side far back.

my mate has a black and tan staff same as the one in your pics with the harness on we thought it was a rotti cross as we never seen a staff this colour are they rare he got it given him.

keep looking for one but cant find one but the boy in the harness is a beaut

I've seen the tri colour a lot more in English bull terriers.

This is a photo taken today of my black and tan boy Rubio -

I think the colour is relatively rare as the kennel club won't recognise it due to black and tan being a dominant gene. I.e. if breeding was encouraged it would phase out other colours.

Rubio came from a litter of 10 where 8 were black and tan and two solid black. We had first pick of the litter and I just loved his markings. The breeders owned both parents as well and it was important to me to see them. Everyone we meet is very surprised that he is a Staffordshire. I don't think many have ever come across or even heard of black and tans before.

Hi Guys, im new here, me and my brother a Black/tan/white staffy. She often got confused with a rotty as a pup.

My brother thinks she she isnt a pure breed even tho papers were provided. I remember when we first picker her up, the whole litter where the usual brown staffy color and she was the only black/tan one in the litter. We also never got to see the father which made my brother suspicious.

Either way she's turned out to be quite the looker i rekon. She isnt as big as most saffy's tho, maybe you guys can have a look and decide if she's a X or not. Shes 4yrs old now.

Most females are smaller so I don't think that's something to go on.

Cheers mate, i'm not too concerned about her breed. Love her, and from what i hear she has that great staffy temperament. She isn't as big as other staffy's which im not complaining about, as i originally wanted a smaller dog.

My brother tho, wants a dog he can show off that's big and muscly.
He wants to get rid of our staffy and get a pit bull. Told him he can get F*ed to getting rid of our dog who's name is Gucci by the way (named by my brother *facepalm) and to getting a pitty lol.

She looks lovely does sound a little dodgy I'd always want to see both parents, but she's yours now and as you've said she's got a great temperament, what more could you ask for?!

For god sake, if your brother wants muscles tell him to go to the gym, and stop trying to compensate for other things with a powerful looking dog. Can't stand that mentality, what a douchebag. Doubt he could find a decent, pure bred pit bull for starters, and if he knew anything about the breed he would know that pit bulls are generally more athletic in stature anyway.

Haha, i tell him he's a douche all the time. On top of that he doesn't even work out anymore and rarely takes her for walks either. Lucky he isn't the only one around. He'd be an irresponsible dog owner. To him a pet is a fashion accessory. Anyways , as long as he lives with me he wont be getting a pit bull. We wont be getting 2 dogs for that matter lol. Love her to death but she's a handful.

I really don't mean to be rude by name calling, but after 5 years in rescue and witnessing the demise of our breed I find people like your brother tough to handle. Would you keep her if he decides she doesn't fit in with his image? Whys she a handful?

Well i already have mate. We've had her for 4 yrs and im her primary carer lol. What i mean by handful is she's always full of energy and up for playing. i dont mind looking after her, wat i really meant to say is she's grown on me, and he still wants to get rid of her, but he ive already told him she's staying, and he's going if he tries.
