only pee in really long grass
Hi
I am new here, and I'm hoping someone can help.
Bought a 3year old male last week, who is really well behaved and lovely, but for some reason he will only pee in really long grass, so we are limited to where we can walk him. Any ideas on how to get him to pee on normal grass? Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

everytime he does a wee say a word ( I say widdles ) and eventually when you say the word your boy will associate it with going to the toilet. ( though mind you it is alot easier with a little puppy.. but perserverance is the key! ) then you can use it to your advantage!
I guess when he wees in the long grass it feels better for him because it is not splashing up on his legs!
I am sure someone else will have some ideas too.....
..maybe he is just modest, and thinks you don't know what he's up to!

Re: only pee in really long grass
It may be the change when we got Milly and started taking her out she would not have a wee or the other when we took her out we could be out 2 hours and nothing but as soon as we got home she would dive frantic to the back garden to go. In time as her confidence grew she started to go outside on walks, he may just need time to settle a bit xx
You could ask were you got him from we there any issues

Re: only pee in really long grass
lol Don't go to the long grass, he can not hold it for long so just be patient, take him to short grassed area, plonk your back side down, him on a long lead and just wait, when he does go lots of positive reinforcement and keep at it pretty soon, you'll have to stop him from going anywhere lol.
My female refused to wee on concret, so i made sure she held it as long as possible while still drinking took her to the pit road, concrete bit, no cars etc and adventually she simply had to go.
