6 Weeks
Had the news I have been waiting for yesterday. It was 6 weeks Monday since Caley had her operation on a luxating patella and she has virtually lived in a crate since other that toilet breaks. She had her xray on Tuesday and yesterday the consultant called me to say that everything has healed up lovely, all has stayed in place. So we have been told she no longer needs crating, she can get up on the settee now and we are to slowly introduce walking to build her up...10/15 mins twice a day this week, 20 mins next, 25 mins the week after and the Easter Weekend...FULL FREEDOM...beach here we come....
It is so nerve wracking though watching her get on the chair, I keep thinking she will still hurt herself, also trying to stop her charging around the house is a nightmare, she has so much pent up energy...but the best thing is walking in the door and having her come and greet you...just seeing her stroll around the house again is so nice. She does keeps looking at us though as if to say "why are you letting me walk around" ha ha ha bless her.

Re: 6 Weeks
Thats great news... Freedom
I know the feeling when you say your nervous, Flo had her leg mended (can't quiet remember what the op was called now) cost an absolute fortune and we were very nervous the first time she climbed the stairs !
The more they do the less you worry and eventually you won't even think about it.
That is really good news though... have fun

Re: 6 Weeks
Good News. Was there any thing specific that caused the problem in the first place?

Re: 6 Weeks
Thanks everyone.
The vet actually thought she might have been born with it. I always remember my husband saying that her leg didn't look right. It seems as she got older the groove could not hold her knee. What triggered it all off was her chasing her tail, it slipped out and she had problems from then on.
