I'm a worry wart!
I know I'm probably the worst worrier in the world but I can't help it lol. I'm going to a wedding this weekend which means leaving Axl with his dog sitter for 2 days, the guy that looks after Axl is great and Axl loves him, he used to have Axl all day, every week day until the middle of last year because my OH and I both worked during the days. Anyway, I know Axl will be looked after but I just can't help stressing about the what if's! What if something happens, what if he loses Axl, what if what if... I'm driving myself mad lol.
Does anyone else worry about leaving their dogs this much or am I really just insane?!

Re: I'm a worry wart!
Ah bless ya! I've only ever left Biscuit once in 3 years, for a week when I went to Spain. She was with my housemate and in her own home, and I spent a few weeks walking her with him to get him used to her training, but he was too scared to walk her and didn't tell me until I got back so she was walked on lead 3 times in a week!!! Haven't trusted anybody else with her since!!

Re: I'm a worry wart!
That's terrible Rach!? Bet she was chomping at the bit to get out and about when you got back.
I'm not happy about leaving Axl and if I had my way I probably wouldn't leave him i'd stay at home and my OH could go to the wedding but that's a bit mental thinking about it lol.. plus my OH wouldn't have it which is probably a good thing because i'd never go away at all if it weren't for him!

Oh no you're definitely doing the right thing lol, if Biscuit wasn't such a bloody fruitcake I'd leave her more often! I did actually leave her for a week last year to visit family but that was with my OH so didn't really count! You'll both be fine

Re: I'm a worry wart!
I'm exactly the same. Harry is a bit of a 'case' as well, so I don't
leave him and go away. I do take him to a Hotel occasionally and
I have rented dog friendly cottages, but they become dog holidays,
not my holiday if you know what I mean.
We ought to have a staffie creche between us all

Re: I'm a worry wart!
Haha if only we could leave our pups with each other, that way we would have nothing to worry about!
I wouldn't have a problem going away if my parents dog was friendly as I would happily trust them with Bane Not sure what we are going to do when we go on holiday later this year :/ The longest we have left him is 1 day and he got to play at the neighbours all day...think it would be too much to ask them to have him for a week!

Re: I'm a worry wart!
My son and hubby went to spain for sons 21st in October, I didnt go, as Pixee wouldnt have done well in kennels, and I dont trust anyone to look after her the way she needs to be. So she is a case too. However we did make up for me missing spain on sons birthday day. (to be fair they went to watch the Motor GP and I am not a fan, and I didnt want to be sunbathing while worrying about Pixee) She has been left for 2 nights, but she was home with son and girlfriend. We have a caravan now, and Pixee loves those holidays with us

I'm very lucky and have family and close friends who I trust so I don't really worry, just pine for her!

Re: I'm a worry wart!
When I just had Maisey, who is very sociable, I used to take her to a lovely establishment where the dogs lived in the house and wondered around the fully enclosed paddock. When we got Roxie, as she was very unsocialised and DA, had to resort to normal kennels. Found a really good one but I hated leaving them so much we now do the doggie cottage type holiday. Yes, it does turn out to be a doggie holiday but I do so enjoy seeing them having fun

I'm sure Axl will be fine, doesn't stop you worrying though. We haven't left Rocky for one day since we have had him, which is just over three years.

Absolutely natural Deb I have never left Vin only to go to work and that's no longer than 4 hours, but even then I am worried all the time and am glad to be home. Sure if he is used to him all will be fine hun xxx

Re: I'm a worry wart!
Only did it once with Snoop and hated it was worrying so much. My sister used to live in Spain and i refuse to go over for Christmas because i did not want to leave him.
Snoop had cancer so i didn`t want to leave him in case something happened.
My mum and dad have a caravan and the site allows dogs so Lula comes with us when we go.

Re: I'm a worry wart!
We booked our hols before we had Gordon to Egypt 2 weeks, but iv since cancelled (oh and step son still going ) because I know Gordon wouldn't do well in kennels, but if you have a trusted friend to look after him i'm sure everything will be good

Re: I'm a worry wart!
Yup, only natural to worry. Wasn't sure what we were going to do with Flo last Xmas as we had a big family holiday all booked but luckily my brother in law stepped in and said no way was she he going to kennels.
The ones we saw were really not to Flo's liking
She ended up spending some quality time in the New Forrest with 2 huge Blood Hounds.. Yup, Flo ruled the roost

Re: I'm a worry wart!
Only natural, Ledger had only stayed with family but it's not fair to always ask them so on recommendations from here I registered with Barking Mad last year, they do a free trial night with the foster family then when he went I had texts and picture messages with how he was doing and a postcard written half from him and half from the family telling me what he had been upto. I would definitely use them again but also for short/emergencies he has been trying doggy daycare at the local pet spa so I have options if needed, Ledger seems to be happy there but it's not for overnights yet as I'm reluctant to have him kennel cough vaccinated and they require it
