Sorry another question but this time Mazda
As i had so many replies about Zero being a cross im sure someone might be able to help with this problem.
Mazda is 10yrs old ALWAYS been "sort of" dog aggressive on lead i say sort of cos 95% of time after the acting like she wants to kill the dog she's friendly if they get close but ive never took silly risks if i know she means it. She was attacked at about 4mths so this could be the reason because i can bring ANY dog in my house and she will submit (I used to foster for rescues so shes used to many), my family also have dogs and my mum often bring strays home for a few days (shes a vet) the only "family dog" we have a problem with is my nans shih tzu whos dog aggressive and has tried to take Maz on a few times in the past year and we've had to "rescue him" hence we no longer let them together.
Now you have a outline i'll get to the point Basically shes getting worse out/on lead
Today I bumped into friends on the way home who have a bassette (sp?), lurcher & 2 terriers, Maz has always been fine with them but not today I honestly think I would have had a huge vet bill to pay if i hadnt had her tight she seemed to target 1 of the terriers, then i bumped into a elderly lady with 2 little dogs same again Mazda went crazy trying to get them, its shocked and upset me cos shes always been controllable as long as i warn ppl not to come too close if i feel shes being "meaningful aggressive"
I also have the problem Zeros sooooooo good with dogs I dont want her to teach him to be dog aggressive
But has anyone got advice on why Mazda's getting worse and how to help her rather than the muzzle (which she hates)
Sorry for the long post

Has she had a vet check lately? At her age, she may be having problems with joint stiffness which could be making her irritable.
Also, when you approach other dogs, are you expecting her to react? If so, she could be picking up your 'signals' through the lead.
As soon as she goes for a dog, turn her away, if necessary walk away a little way until she stops. Then get her to sit calmly (carry some treats with you to get her attention) and once she's back to normal try approaching the dogs again.

My girl has the sweetest nature you could ever imagine but when my boy was young she attacked another dog because it started to snarl at my boy to say I was shocked was a understatement.
As you now have a pack I wonder if she feels she needs to step up to the mark and be dominant female?

Hi
Yes shes vet checked regular she does have arthritus and is on remadyl for it health wise tho shes tip top (my mums a vet so they get that little extra vet care)
I wasnt expecting her reaction yesterday to be honest, i'll give the walking away bit a try and see how we go today.
Gem, I did wonder this as zeros not aggressive in the slightest just VERY boisterous
Seperate walks i'll try too see how Maz reacts

I can't help much as none of my dogs are aggresive towards others although my JRT can be so unsociable sometimes, and just start barking and going mental at another dog. I then keep him short on the lead, pulling him back if he tries to pull forward, tell him 'no' and slowly calm him down, usually other people wait around so the dogs can have a little sniff if possible, so when he's fully calmed I slowly walk up to the dog so he could meet him, and he gets better. All I can say (learnt from Ceasar Millan's programme) try to socialise your dog as much as you can with others so he gets to meet loads of different dogs, that way his aggression should be gone really quickly I hope!
All the best and hopefully Zero is not gonna start repeating Mazda's naughty behaviour x
