Vet bills Empty Vet bills

Post by CMR Sat Mar 15 2014, 18:56

My vet recently suggested I took my girl in to have her teeth cleaned. It had to be done under general anaesthetic so I expected it to be expensive but been quoted £240 then ended up paying £440 because of some tests that had to be done. Lucy had a bad reaction to whatever they gave her, threw up and passed blood so had to take her back in. The bill just now was £370. I would pay whatever I have to treat Lucy but I feel these snakes charged me £800 to clean her teeth and to make it worse Lucy is feeling really bad also.

Insurance doesn't cover dental and they think the dental treatment is what caused it.

Do you think it's worth complaining that their treatment caused it?

Yep, ridiculous. Trouble is, Lucy is now very ill so that's a stupid situation in itself.

I feel I got talked into this and while spending the £800 winds me right up, at the end of the day money is only money but Lucy looks in a pretty bad way

I will do once Lucy recovers, I don't want to have to change vets while she still needs treatment

That is insane! Marquez got his teeth clean and also had to anaesthetised and it cost about £50 (here in Indonesia).

Sounds like vets practices in the UK are similar to those in Australia because our friends there are always telling us of stories similar to this (quote one price and end up paying double because of other "extras") Sad

Hope Lucy is feeling better.

Initially I said yes to a blood test that was quoted £60. The second time around I said yes to everything as Lucy was in a very bad way. I know blood in diarheea means the end could be very near and it wasn't the time to save money. Tomorrow morning I have to take her back in for a checkup and I will have a word with the owner providing Lucy recovers enough
