Mia out running and behaving doing some sit and recall with minor distractions off leash. Had her 3 weeks at this point and to say when I first got her she was a nervous wreck who would just hide in a corner, I think she is doing ok!

Well this one is hard.As i mentioned in a previous post her drives are little to none so training is much more difficult. This may have been different had i got her at 8 weeks. Anyway the core is trust, respect and focus. The way i build this bond starts immediately. When its time to feed, fill the bowl and face the dog, naturally the dog will focus but this maybe on the bowl. Just wait, eventually the dogs instinct will kick in and they will look direct at you, at that point put the bowl down, do this at every feed and you will find the dogs confidence builds in you, from there training should be easier and its then just practice the command you want at home with distractions, what i do is i train the basic command then i throw a treat down close to the dog and make the dog focus on the one i have ignoring the other one until stated otherwise.

appologies for the essay, im not saying this works for everyone but this is my method. Smile

No thank you Smile It's always interesting and helpful to see how others train! We just struggle outside with Bane sometimes as he gets far too distracted by other things and forgets we even exist Laughing
Little Mia seems to have picked up your training so well in such a short time! She is a very clever girl! You must be very proud of her!

I am pleased with her just really trying to work on her confidence more than anything she can be very skittish which is opposite to me and my previous dogs, we will get there... i hope haha
