Whilst I feel for the poor kid, I would have liked to have seen a photo of this alleged Staffordshire Bull-terrier.
You may say, hang on there is a photo of it at the bottom of the page, read the caption
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier (not pictured) was destroyed after the incident
So, we are told it was a staffy, and they showed a photo of a staffy, however, it wasn't the offending dog.
I'm saying all this as far too often a dog showing any sign of being a Staffy is always reported as one, despite the fact it's a mixed breed.
Yes, the offending dog may have been a Staffy, however, in my opinion it's unlikely.
Any of the UK people know if this attack was by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier or was it a mixed breed that had traits of being a staffy?

Re: More rubbish journalism
It's probably another case of mistaken identity and we'll probably never know the exact breed of dog, it's easier for them to blame our beloved stafford than for them to do their homework properly on the exact breed of the dog

Re: More rubbish journalism
The report seems determined to put an image in everyones mind of the dog involved whatever breed it actually was. I do wish they would do their homework first before going to print. I would bet that they will not print a retraction if it turns out not to have been a Staffy.

Re: More rubbish journalism
There was an interesting item on UK Channel 4's Sunday Brunch yesterday where a Kennel Club Crufts Judge made this very point about mistaken identity of breeds whilst discussing an SBT on the program.
Available on Channel 4od, Sunday Brunch approximately 85 minutes in.
