Eating too fast and verging on possessiveness
As some of you know we have recently moved to feeding raw. Our spaniel whom has always eaten fast is eating the raw food as if theres no tomorrow and tail under his legs as if he's expecting it to be taken off him. Clearly tastes fantastic but does anyone have any advice on trying to slow him down/reassure him? He's never been like this with the dry food/toys etc Molly enjoys her food without stressing!
Thank you in advance!

Sorry, don't know much about raw feeding. Are you able to give the food in smaller pieces, over a longer amount of time or put it some kind of toy (like you can with kibble food). Can you feed them in separate rooms ?

I don't think Molly really has any positive or negative effect, they've always eaten in the same room but separate sides. He goes into a food trance with his sole aim to eat all of it as soon as poss!

We've ordered mince from daf and I think that might calm him a bit as we could do the kong trick then. Arrives on the 26th. Thank you Kathy!

small food isn't what you want with raw you want the biggest piece you can find, and feed it frozen!

We are feeding frozen quarters of chicken at present. Just wanted him to relax a bit!

Re: Eating too fast and verging on possessiveness
If it is just since the switch to raw that he seems to be a bit nervous, then maybe it would be worth trying him with his dinner on his own.
The only thing I would have suggested to slow him down is freezing the meat as this slows Bane down, but you already do that. With the mince try defrosting it, filling the kong and then refreezing it so it will take him longer to get out. Or you could get him some hooves that you can fill with the mince?

Can I ask why raw is best given frozen? I too give Zeus mince, but I always defrost it over night and give it cool.
P.s. Zeus too is a really fast eater but always has been since birth, whether it was dry food, wet food, or raw.

I only feed meat on the bone frozen as Daisy won't eat it otherwise! Mince and chunks she has defrosted x

I don't think it is particularly better frozen or fresh, it just takes Bane longer to eat it if it is frozen
