Walking Alfie this morning, a woman came along with 2 German Shepherds, one on the lead and one off. Alfie is always on lead, I called out that he was not dog friendly (gets nervous and snaps). She called back her one was friendly, I repeated mine was not and that he will snap at hers if he comes close. She then said it was fine he will not come over to us...The dog came straight at us and Alfie went for him! He gave him the glare first but GS didn't read it, no mouth contact, thank goodness. Why do they not listen! The stupid thing is her one on the lead was very DA and was snarling big time and trying to get to Alfie as we walked past, so you would think she would understand a warning!!  angry

That is all, thank you!

It never ceases to amaze me how SO MANY other Dog owners fail to read Dog and Owner's body language to avoid situations way ahead of any incident happening.

The owners that ignore a clear verbal warning as in your case must be mentally deficient in some way. If they had never walked a Dog before you may understand it, but these are OWNERS. Its beyond belief.

Yep I have to deal with all the time, it makes walking a Pain rather than a pleasure, I have thought about buying a t shirt saying ' no dogs near' as bright as possible to wear when it gets a bit warner ,it drives me crazy I know you can get collars and harnesses but by the time they see it , it would be too late

Exactly Sara and what notice will they take of it anyway if they ignore us telling them!!

As with most of us, we usually see the same owners and dogs daily and once I've told them, most are pretty good and put their dogs on lead when we see them, if they were off it. But the kids are off this week so our timings are a bit different and meeting different people/dogs. Bet they still do the same next time we meet! Sad

Grrr, no they never learn! And gosh I forgot its half term already! Not that I have seen any kids about  Surprised . Well so far lol. I just hate those dogs that come over. Not the dogs fault but the owners for not teaching them or keeping them under control!

been there soOOoo many times..its gotten a bit nasty. jack never liked any dogs, but had a particular dislike of german shephards, no idea why....the trouble is though, the staffy will always be to blame. many years ago i took jack and bess onto the park. it was christmas day evening. a bloke had a mastiff off the lead which came charging towards us..i gave him the warning etc...but he didnt take any notice...my dogs were on the lead..the next thing i knew, the mastiff, teeth bared, jumped up at me in attack mode, my two were going nuts..i was shouting at the bloke who insisted he was just being friendly!! In the next moment, the mastiff bit Jacks cheek, who looked at me as if it to say, 'are you going to let me put up with this?'..i tried booting the dog away and by now the whites of Jacks eyes had turned red (a very bad sign), and bess was trying to get to the mastiff..in the end, i managed to let jack off the lead as he was bleeding and couldnt defend himself....it was over in an instant. he bit the mastiff's ear off, which screamed and ran, with his owner doing his conkers...much to my surprise Jack actually came back when i called him...2 minutes later Jack and Bess were playing as if nothing had happened...that was the worst event that i'd ever encountered with either of them, but he was a fiery bugger, even at the ripe old of 18. 99.9% of the time he was big, cuddly, soppy lump, but he always needed strong leadership because he was the most dominant Staff ive ever known...Just be careful, because as i said, YOU will always be called irresponsible and be found to blame, even if there is an idiot with two german shephards lunging towards you off the lead. As far as im concerned, Jack potentially saved my life that evening, never mind the fact that he'd received a huge bit into his face..Brave lad he was.
