Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
Is there anyone with a half decent knowledge of Pedigrees etc.?
I tried to follow Barney's pedigree on Stamlaver and:-
1. I have always owned Staffordshires for their temperament so do not know what are good Dogs to have in his History. Could someone take a look and give some opinions please?
2. Tried to follow his ancestry by clicking on the Sire in the top right corner of Stamlaver in every window. Is this the correct way to do it?
3. Appear to hit a problem when I reached a dog called Black Tusker. According to Stamlaver he was born in 1975. However, it says that Black Tusker's Sire, a dog called Black King was born in 1960. Is this correct? Also, beyond Black King things start to get really strange with dates etc.
I have posted a link below to Barney's Sire and Dam and would be very grateful if somebody could take a look for me and let me have some opinions.

The Dogs I mentioned above seem to appear in lots of your Dogs ancestry also. Has nobody else noticed the Date of Birth issues with Black Tusker and Black King?

Going back to Black Tusker DOB 1975 then Black King it says 1960, and the dates for Black King's parents really seem to start going out of kilter. Maybe I am reading or doing something wrong, really not sure.
Would also like opinions on my pride and joy Barney's "lineage".

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
COI of 3%. His Dam's was quite high so I was a bit concerned at first but when I checked Barney it came out at 3% which I am quite happy with.
I must admit, not having studied this stuff too hard before, I was shocked at the number of times certain Dogs names appeared in the Pedigrees. However, when I checked out some of the other members family trees it appears to happen quite a lot. Amazed me. At first I thought these breeders were a bunch of red neck hillbillies sitting around playing Banjos lol.

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
with that site the owner has to add the dogs them self i think. it has nothing to do with the kennel club maybe you could get in touch with them for the full history of your dog
Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
At the moment I am waiting for KC to send me the Paperwork. When that arrives I will investigate further if need be and update Stamlaver if necessary (and capable lol).

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
some staffy have been used has breeding machine some lines i wouldn't go anywhere near, it's quite shocking people think is acceptable to breed their dogs like that.
Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
When I looked at the number of mating partners / offspring some of the Sires had against their names I was astounded.

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
I seen some staffy just about 40% inbred, last year at crufts staffy who won was 30% or something like inbred, i'm not an huge fan of the kennel club also but i do like this COI test so we can help people to find healthy dogs
Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
From what I have learned from this Site, I understand a bit of "line breeding" as it is referred to maintain the breed standard and I can live with that.
But I do get the horrible feeling that money and greed have played a large part with some of these breeders. Does the "line breeding" still happen as often as it used to?

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
I must admit the COI check I did for Barney put my mind at ease when it came out at 3%. Great relief as wasn't really too aware of this issue before.

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
line breeding is keeping it in the family like uncle with niece, anutie with nephews so on it just an posh way of saying in breeding
Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
I thought I had done everything right when I looked for, found and purchased Barney with Health Checks etc.
Then I joined this site and, OMG I had no idea! Wow so many issues and things that I should have researched first, scary.
I am very happy with Barney, and with his breeder. He is a great dog and has fitted in very well, more than I could have wished for.
BUT I NOW REALISE THIS WAS MORE DOWN TO LUCK THAN JUDGMENT.
People should be made to join this site before they are allowed to own a Puppy. Would save a lot of heartache I am sure.

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
i wish everyone did tony they could read many of our useful information we have on here
Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
I have the advantage of being an insomniac (haven't referred toit as an advantage before lol) and have read 80% of this site in the last couple of weeks I think. I have owned three Staffords before Barney and thought I was quite clued up.
I WAS WRONG.
I love it here, knowledgeable and very fair minded user base. Congratulations and well done!

We love the fact that people will come here first to ask any questions before buying a puppy or rehoming to get all the facts first. This can save an awful lot of heartache later. Well done you too.

Re: Help with Pedigree. Stamlaver issue?
I am not sure if the further investigation on the SBT Pedigree site (Stamlaver) that I hve just done has helped or confused the issue even more. Bit of both really.
I searched for Black King and got results for four different Dogs from.
It helps because I now understand why there is an issue.
It confuses things because I didn't think Dogs could register with identical names.
Fast losing faith in the information on the database.#

Try this link.
http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/services/public/mateselect/inbreed/Default.aspx?breed=3080
Barney's is 2.5% not 3% as stated above.
