barking all night
Had a terrible night with Densil last night after we went to bed. He kept barking, growling and whining. He sleeps in our room at night but he was running up and down the stairs. I opened the door to let him out and he just stood there staring outside at first before finally going out, so I know it wasn't a toilet need. He didn't settle down until about 3.30 in the morning. We think he could hear something we couldn't hear because I looked out of the window a couple of times and couldn't see or hear anything. I thought maybe he wasn't feeling well but he is fine today, eating, walking and playing as normal. Hopefully it was just a one off.

Yes it sounds like he heard something outside, I had a night like that with Daisy recently, she heard something and then wouldn't settle for ages x

Oh no! Sounds like he was being disturbed by something, if he's back to normal today i'd say to see how tonight goes and continue from there

I hope so too, In the end I came downstairs and slept with him on the sofa as he was disturbing my husband's sleep and he is on chemo at the moment so needs his rest.

Yes, he may well have heard or even smelled something that you couldn't.

Re: barking all night
Definately wasn't due to hubby's illness as he was diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma on xmas eve 2012 - 8 days before we were due to go on a very long cruise which we had to cancel. He has had the main chemo and is now on boosters every 2 months to stop it coming back as they aren't sure whether he is in full or partial remission, but he is keeping well and his hair is growing back now. I still think he heard a noise we couldn't hear because he was sitting with his ears pricked up and obviously they can hear things we can't.

Sorry to hear about your husband. At least hes keeping well . I agree Densil must have heard something, and it just unsetted him. Dogs can hear things we cant like all have said. So fingers crossed all is well now.

Re: barking all night
Rocky was listening to something last night when we went to bed. Rocky sleeps on the bed with us and sometimes he just looks in space as if he can see someone there and we can't, very spooky.
