Do staffy get extra cold
Hi My new Staffy called Duchess is a 6 year old rescue bitch from the RSPCA. When I take her for a walk in the cold of a morning she soon pulls to turn back and seems very subdued for a period when she gets back.. should I get her a coat to wear?

Re: Do staffy get extra cold
i bet they get cold becasye they are an indoor dog, some people get their dogs a coat to wear other dont it's upto you
Re: Do staffy get extra cold
Yes, Staffies do usually feel the cold which is due to their short coats, Rocky has a lovely little red coat for when it is windy and cold.

Yes Alfie has a very short coat and like Rachel's biscuit has hardly any on his underside so he has a coat. He also has pjs for night time as it gets cold at night downstairs!

Molly couldn't wear a coat as it would get wet when she goes in the sea, but she is an outside dog

Re: Do staffy get extra cold
Bane has a hoody just to take the edge off the cold But if it rains or is particularly cold he is always reluctant to leave the house so I think it's a common thing with Staffies!
You could try getting her something to wear to see if she seems a bit happier? If she doesn't want to wear it though don't expect it to last long

Banes got a hoody for out side, and a blanket for his cage, when he goes to bed he likes to be tucked in lol

Re: Do staffy get extra cold
I think they definately feel the cold, They don't have a double coat like a lot of dogs. I always think if it's cold enough for me to get wrapped up, it's cold enough for Eads to need her coat. She has several as they get filthy when she lays in the mud!

Re: Do staffy get extra cold
I wondered if they felt the cold more too as my Boss seems to shake a lot but only indoors he doesn't like the rain when he has to go out in the garden for a wee but if he knows he is going on walkies he couldn't care less about the rain haha.
Where is the best place to get a coat for him from? I brought him a hi vis coat the other day just to put on him in the winter evenings but obviously doesn't keep him very warm.

I would get a coat, Pixee has two. She hates the cold too. And bedtimes she has to be tucked in under her quilt.
