Jumped the stair gate
Whoops. Came home from dropping my daughter off at preschool to find Zara in the hall way playing or should I say chewing the shoes. She has jumped the stair gate that I have on the kitchen door. Not much point in using that anymore. Need to tidy the shoes away now . Maybe I should have considered a crate. Not sure what to do from here. Zara is teething. Found a tooth yesterday. She is chewing anything and everything. Any advise or tips welcomed please xx

Re: Jumped the stair gate
It may be an idea to consider crate training for her:
http://www.staffy-bull-terrier.com/crate_training
As for the chewing have you tried bitter apple spray:

Also a stag bar may help, the small one would be OK for puppies:

Thank you for your replies. Would it be ok to introduce a crate at this age? She is 21 weeks.

Re: Jumped the stair gate
I'm no expert in this, that's why this forum has been great, but you could try and leave the crate door open and put some toys and her bed in there to start with so she feels comfortable and just let her get used to it, you could also put some treats in there so she makes a positive connection, good luck x

Re: Jumped the stair gate
Eddie was crate trained! Locked in when away and at night and to this day he still seeks comfort in it, with the door now removed! So we are doing the same with Lola, starting her now at 7 months, whilst she is slightly reluctant I think she's taking direction from him! We do have child gates throughout the house to deter her and yes she jumps them if we're not on the ball but luckily the main one from downstairs to rest of the house we can still shut the door but the rest I barricade with airers etc! Eddie is not impressed with this as he is used to run of the house! xx
