that the problem when you live by yourself which i'm scared of there was an bloke on my sister road he fell down side becasue he couldn't get to the phone he end up dying becasue he was by him self and when some one when around it was to late

I think it's the length of time he was above there and of course the maggots that freak me. If it was a day, although tragic, somehow it's not as disturbing.

Yes, it's nasty for the people who were affected - the people in the flats, the police and other people who had to deal with the body.
But it's a sad fact that old people have a habit of dying, and we all know of old people who live alone and positively resent any interference in their lives. My Godmother, for example, was absolutely furious when her kindly and concerned neighbours knocked on her door when they saw that her curtains were still drawn later than they thought they should have been.
Ideally, social workers/district nurses should be keeping in contact with elderly/vulnerable people living on their own who have no otherwise visible means of support, even if they are sent away with a flea in their ear. At least it would stop the maggots setting in.
