Annual vaccinations. Yes or No?
Can I throw this out there to you experienced dog owners. I really want a canvass of opinion and is anyone really passionate one way or another about the annual boosters?
I am asking because I have read a hell of a lot about the over-vaccination of dogs and the potential long term health issues. Tommy is due his booster jabs but I am torn between getting him innoculated or asking for a blood test to check his current level of resistance.
What do you guys think?

Re: Annual vaccinations. Yes or No?
It is said all booster vaccinations now last at least 3 years.
So, you should get your pup's (or rescue dog) first vaccinations done & then the first annual booster. After that every three years is sufficient.
However.......most vets will know if there is a higher than average occurance of the vaccinated diseases in your area (there are sometimes flare-ups for one reason or another) and if there appears to be a specific problem they may advise you to get the dog vaccinated against that particular disease more frequently.
Obviously there are many views, some people will have them vaccinated out of fear of the unknown ie if they caught something that could have been prevented through vaccination. Another problem can be would you be covered by your insurance if you didn't annually vaccinate?

Rocky only has his Lepto jab each year, the others are only done every three years by our vets which is fine by us.

I would advize anyone to check with the insurance policy (if you have it) first before making any decisions to not have them done.
