bitch coming into season

hi all. any advice for us would be wellcome. we have dog 1yr old and bitch 6months. we have heard some horror stories about the dog going mad when the bitch comes into season. we are aware that the season can happen between 6 and 9 months. what are the signs to look out for and any advice on what will the dog be like and how do you cope with it. are they really as agressive as we have heard. does anybody use the contraceptive injections ?? only ever had dogs, this is our first bitch. mant thanks

I've never had two together either but you need to keep them separate, season signs are often swelling of the vulva. This swelling can occur a week before bleeding, or the day before. Other signs of heat are behavioral changes; your girl may start to hump other girls, or pups or even your leg. She may also begin to lick herself a lot. She can be in season between 21/28 days but I'd say 28 to be safe so you don't have any accidents.
