How has the weather affected you ?
Having seen all the images on tv and in the papers, i am interested to know how all or any of you have bin affected by the bad weather, thats not just here in the uk but also worldwide, knowing that the states have had their fair share of bad weather, not just snow but dry times sparking fires, as has australia, also the philippinesbearing the brunt of that typhoon.
The only problem i have had is getting shearer out the front door, so i am extremely fortunate. Also as an after thought, have any of you done anything stupid, like the family featured on most of the papers and news channels ?

We always seem to escape the worst of the weather here in sunny Bedfordshire. We have had some very windy days and a fair amount of rain though, our local river The Great Ouse is very high already

wales took a beating last night, not as much as people were expecting, nuthin beats the snowfall in america though at the moment, pretty sure the main area its hit was still recovering from the last real bad storm they had there

Luckily we have been ok, been a bit windy and we always expect rain living near Manchester so nothing new there. Oh came back from New York yesterday his fight was ok but there was a bout a foot of snow, minus 14 and lots of other flights got cancelled. One flight was stuck on runway for 10 hours with passengers on went nowhere had to be de iced twice then was too dangerous to rake off, crew were stuck in NY for 5 days, OH was lucky to get home, good job, he has lots of jobs to do ha ha

Re: How has the weather affected you ?
just muddy water, hmm much the same here, so we got off light, saw one image on tv of this house in a sea of muddy water, then realised there was a lock right next to the house, i cant even comprehend how people deal with that level of distress and natural disaster, if this keeps up it will take forever to soak away - the financial cost of it all dont come close to the misery and loss of life [human and animal] thas has arisen from it

Re: How has the weather affected you ?
I'm 30 miles inland from the south coast so not too bad. It's the coastal regions who are suffering, and those on major riverways. The little river at the bottom of my garden is now a big river and my local dog-walks are pretty swamped - at the least very muddy and trees WILL keep crashing down.
Surrey is just a couple of miles away from me and is pretty much the same. Don't worry about Surrey, Steve, there are a lot of places a lot worse off.

guessing thats the the very same place, they were there before the weather really hit hard, showed people filling up sandbags, bet no-one was really expecting the sort of damage that actually occured

Re: How has the weather affected you ?
Well, we got our man made flood gate up in lower floor. As we live next to the canal, and the overflow runs to back of our garden, we have been flooded twice last year, and once 5 years ago. We dont keep anything important down the basement which is a lovely sun garden room, its more of a gym really now, but I do keep my freezer down there except it on a higher up floor, its weird down there really. Thats where Pixee always goes to the door for garden. She is having to go through the first floor door on to decking, which again is also the ground floor at front of house, but 1st floor at back of house, very confusing I know. Or we just let her out the front to do it. Hubby, when we first got flooded, chopped all plaster off, moved all the sockets up to water proof level, and we just painted the bare bricks half way up, so when it happens we just tend to jet wash it all down. However it is upsetting watching all that mucky dirty water coming in from ground/1st floor. But like I say, our home does not get flooded just the basement, and we very lucky. Hubby has been up a few times in the night to check on the canal.

Re: How has the weather affected you ?
I did have to read it several times to get an understanding of the layout, must still be distressing to witness, it certainly would be for me, which is i guess easy to surmise this end of a computer, i can understand where i may see thngs one way, others more used to such ocurrances, may or do see things in a more tolerant way - like living in tornado alley for example

Re: How has the weather affected you ?
Cloudy here with some very light rain showers and a bit windy but not too bad, it didn't alter out walkies this morning thankfully although our local river is flowing very fast and is very high.

The weather looks set to turn quite cold this week so maybe I will look for that thick fleece which is very warm. Rocky has his red coat too for when it is cold.
