As some of you do the walks there, theres a cracking pub, we found over Christmas which is very dog friendly too  Big Grin (We do tend to go to a different pub there but sit outside)  Well we went again yesterday, again Pixee was so well behaved, but then she generally has been in any pub, and a few people there that must be the locals said oh theres the well behaved dog  Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin  as we walked in.  A lad that worked there, ever gave her 3 big bits of rare steak from his lunch, bless him.  We all got talking, he too has a rescued staffie now age 11, hes had her for 8 years.  We talked nothing but staffies, what they get up to, what they love, what they steal if they get the chance  Laughing , and you know what!    We did get some looks from a couple cos of all the staffie talk, oh ever the talk about the ankle bitter rats  Laughing  as the lad called them, and there was one there right next to  him, but he didnt care, and the reason why, cos our staffies have such a bad name, it was great to talk nothing but good about them for a change.  One man tried to make friends with Pixee, but she was too scared, and did a low growl, but the man was fine about it once we explained that she is a rescue.  But having said that, Pixee is more and more friendly with men now, just the odd one here and there, like the one in pub, I think she just felt backed into a corner hence the low growl but no bark.  Its only a small pub, but good food and good range of drinks.  They did my cider I love, Old Rosie  Big Grin

Pixie was probably scared why she grumbled and felt as you say backed into a corner, maybe had she met the man outside she would have been OK with him once she knew he wasn't a threat to her.
