Good days n bad days
Had Spud 5days now n it's been long and hard,
Day 3 was great peed n poohs on pads all day
But 4 and 5 have been wild, sometimes on the pads sometimes in the living room, now he's started peeing on the Matt I have at my front door for cleaning feet on, but as I've read on here and know from previous puppy (7years ago mind you) it's not easy and takes time.
My mum has the same doormat at her house and he's now peein on that aswell good that he's going to doors but not so good that it's not on pads provided
Also he's hangin off shoe laces trouser legs slippers anything he think he can chew that walks past him, when he does he gets told no and gave his kong or which ever toy is closest but again time n patience required,
Haven't really left home alone in the house to long max 3hours as I worry bout him bein cold, the kitchen he's blocked is puppy proof for now n has everything he needs bed water even the pads are at other end of the kitchen n he has been good while I'm out but I'm single so have to come back n forth from work to feed him n check on him.
Think I'm gonna end up a serial poster on here haha

Re: Good days n bad days
How old is Spud now? Is he still 4 weeks as per your profile? He's very young! He won't have control of his bladder yet - what do you do when you see him going on the pads or anywhere else for that matter?
As you say with the chewing - time, patience and consistency are key!

Ah, he's still very young for bladder control. Do you take him outside when he looks like he's ready to go? Do you have a command when he does go and lots of praise when he goes in the right place?

Yeah give him rubs n say good boy when he does, n when he doesn't I try lift him to his pad n say toilet. not to sure about takin him outside yet due to his age n not been jagged yet, gonna take him to vets today n register him if it's open,
He must have heard us, just peed n poohd on his pad at back door with litter help and lots of praise,

Sounds like you're doing a good job - again, he's very young so it takes time and consistency as well as patience.

Re: Good days n bad days
Sounds like so far he's doing great, they don't have full bladder control until around 6months and some learn quicker than others. So keep it up your doing all the right things. He's very young to have left his mum and siblings. Why did the breeder not keep him until at least 8weeks?

Re: Good days n bad days
Yeah I had my last staffie Ellie from 10 wks old but to be honest she didn't really get the training she needed, but she ended up good in the long run but just wanna do it right with the wee man this time as Ellie didn't get on with other dogs at all, n it only got worse when she got bit by a lab. My 2 friends hav young staffies so he'll be introduced to them when the time is right and hopefully they all get on well and we can take them all out,
Think I'm gonna take him to the vets today get the ball rolling so to speak.
Hopefully wire up the laptop tonight and get some pics of him on for all to see

Re: Good days n bad days
Hi Mark, I agree with what everyone has written above. My pup is 11wks now & has been home for 3wks, over that time he has learnt so much but it hasn't been easy ! He is the same, chews EVERYTHING that moves &/or fits in his mouth (& things that don't !), started going toilet all through the house but now only does # 2's outside & has the very occassional # 1 inside, piddle pads didn't work for us as he ate the 1st two :lol, tonnes of "No!" and pulling him away from things he shouldn't chew & giving him a distraction (I have a squeaky Kong ring he loves !). He will get better I'm sure, Koda has but it does take a lot of time, patience & persistence which isn't always easy. Hang in there, keep us posted & remember we're always here for a rant ! x
