Hi from Emma and Roxie
Hi, I'm Emma and I have an 18 week old Staff X called Roxie.
We rehomed Roxie at 11 weeks old from Birmingham Dogs Home and so far things have gone more or less ok, with the odd hiccup here and there.
Play biting was a problem at first but we are now using a water spray to reinforce us telling her no, and that seems to work most of the time, without us having to actually spray it.
Toileting is very nearly sorted, witht he odd wee by the door when it is cold or raining lol.
I am going to start dog training with her shortly, but in the meantime I wondered if anyone had any tips for getting her to stop pulling on the lead ? She can walk really nicely, but when she sees a person or another dog, it all goes to pot and she pulls until she is sick. I've tried stopping, or turning round the opposite way but it doesn't seem to work.
Can't ever imagine being able to let her of the let, but i'm sure a lot of dog owners though that when their dogs were pups.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
Well done for rescuing, as for the pulling on the lead do you use a harness or just a collar ? have you considered using a Canny Collar or a Halti ?

Hi from Oz and me and for rescuing your baby. Ozzy pulls so if we do a street walk as opposed to a run in the park, I use a dogmatic head collar, it's not the answer to pulling and me and oh are trying to resolve this but it's taking ages, if it ever will? But the head collar really makes life easy Oz is like a different dog when he has it on

Re: Hi from Emma and Roxie
Hi and welcome from me and Coco. I use to have the same problem with Coco, I use a harness on her (not that she pulls on it, I just think they are kinder than collars). I started taking Coco to the shops where there are lots of people and dogs all the time, we would sit at the shops and concentrate on each other (ignoring all the other dogs and people). I would distract her at first with treats and praise, then got it down to just praise. She now walks beautifully with me (not my husband though) and generally ignores other dogs when they walk past. Hope this helps
