Narrow minded People Empty Narrow minded People

Post by damrabbit Sat Dec 07 2013, 11:23

I have noticed in the 2 weeks since owning rizz how people react while I'm out walking ,They now tend to move out of the way and pick up or drag their dogs/kids out of range despite rizz being on a lead not because he is nasty just a bit boisterous and he does jump up people which I'm trying to get him out of as I feel that is unacceptable.

But no matter how much I say he's friendly its as if I'm walking a starved T-rex down the park but they pay no attention to nell my border collie who as a breed I feel is the more likely to be the one to snap and fight (she is very friendly BTW)

One women yesterday did have a harsh lesson in prejudging dogs when after picking up her Jack Russell when she saw rizz (after they had already sniffed and greeted but she didn't see that bit) she walked 50 yards before putting it back down where it was promptly set upon by a cocker spaniel

I know you probably have all come across this behaviour before but i just needed to vent a bit, its just come as a shock to me after never experiencing it when walking the collie or shelties

Oh yes can relate to this, there is one woman who always crosses the other side of the road and stares so hard at me and Vin. She was behind us the other morning and Vin stopped to have a pee, instead of her walking on by she stopped aswell! To which I asked"Have you a problem with me or my dog?" really enrages me angry

yup I agree, all to frequent and the irony of the people picking there dogs up? the owners are teaching them to be fearfull around other dogs and therefore more likely to have a go themselves doh

Don't worry about coming here to vent, that's what we are here for. Most have experiences this or similar before so know exactly how you feel.

You cant help some people. I was walking Katy up our lane the other day when a lady came out from another footpath with I think a bischon thing which started to have a go a Katy. So being polite I held her back walking very slowly so she could get in the field well ahead of us with her dragging the snarly yappy thing behind her. As she got to the gate she seemed to be avoiding going through. I waited then heard a voice shouting for their dog from the field, to the lady's horror & our amusement it was Katy's friend Sonny (STAFFIE) Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

I get it all the time, it really used to bother me but I don't care anymore. What does p me off is that I do my best to cross the road if another dog is coming towards us, if we are in the park and there are other digs around ( mainly off lead I need to add) is we go to somewhere we are out of the way or if other dogs want to go where we are we will wait until they gave passed to avoid any conflict. They are totally oblivious to the extent that I try and keep their dogs safe ( Oz being DA) it's had work to have eyes in the back of your head all the time, they really have no idea, idiots!

Sorry, rant over

I was asked by a couple of people if we would be muzzling Moll when she was older (this was when she was only 20 weeks or so!!). Crazy! I think some ignorant people don't see the difference between staffs and pitbulls.

oh yeah, all the time, drives me mental! my mother in law reckons she likes licking me because she likes the taste of me and wants to bite?! Laughing yeah, whatever love!
A lot of people round hear associate staffies with chavvy people, unfortunately there is an abundance of idiots near me who use them as a status symbol and for breeding only. the local rescue centre is full of staffs and staff crosses.
