Don't know Inez, but I think the plan is floored anyway, what if you don't have a bank account, what if you buy a car second hand, how could you tell if a car had been abandoned ? This will mean greater use of surveilance cameras if there aren't enough already.

End of the Tax Disc Empty Re: End of the Tax Disc

Couple of years ago I had a car clamped dressed up like a turkey in bright yellow stickers and if I had been working away a second night it would have been towed. All because system said no. I had a valid tax disc on display in the window and when queried the error was found

As it is my new car is tax free but I still need a disc in the window, from a work pov the systems as they are don't update quickly enough for this to be viable the disc is proof of purchase

My hubby is disabled and his tax disc gets sent to him, however our car now is tax exempt.

I think it's a great idea. Let's face it, the DVLA already have an electronic record of the car anyway, and there are police cars around that have thE ability to read number plates & if you don't have tax/MOT/insurance it flashes up on the dashboard, so what's the difference?

I'll certainly take up the monthly direct debit option.

You won't have to pay by direct debit, you'll still be allowed to pay at the post office or online if you Want.

Quite a bit, I should think. I doubt they'll use the savings wisely, though!
