Christmas Trees
Hi everyone just a quick question. Now that Christmas is not that far away it will soon be time to put up decorations and of course the tree. Im thinking of getting a real tree this year the only problem might be is sasha she loves exploring the trees in the park and has been known to pull a branch or two off. Any advice on this will be gratefully received. Ive got a feeling theres gonna be another stressful time ahead

Re: Christmas Trees
I've got my tree up we have never had a problem with it, neither of the boys pay it any attention, but i would just tell her 'leave it' anytime she pays to much interest in it.

Re: Christmas Trees
Im hoping that if we dont make too much fuss when putting it up she might not bother but I dont hold out too much hope. I think I may leave putting presents underneath too as she loves to tear any made of paper letters, receipts etc to bits

Re: Christmas Trees
I love a real tree too, but those needles do drop and just may get into a dog's paw. Real tree or not, it may be worth considering getting a smaller tree and putting it on a chest of drawers or whatever, out of pup's way. Ditto the presents under the tree!

I want to put my pressies under because my wrapping paper will match the decorations!

Re: Christmas Trees
We first bought Rocky home a few days before Christmas 2010 when he was only 9 months old so wouldn't have seen one before, he was great though and just wasn't bothered by it at all, he just ignored it. A good Leave command should work well though.

Re: Christmas Trees
My girls play fight all the time and I reckon they would knock a big tree over all the time as we have a small room

Re: Christmas Trees
Good point about the needles also I just think it would be too much of a temptation for her. She learns quickly and understands leave so will give it a go and keep my fingers crossed she gets bored. Think shes gonna lke the baubles more than anything

Re: Christmas Trees
No tree for us this year! No decorations for us at all. We're going oop north on the 18th and not coming back til new year so there's not much point really. It'll be interesting to see how Bruno behaves around his Nan's tree though

Darcy has strict leave it rules got fed up of picking pine needles out of her bum last year

Re: Christmas Trees
I think Roman would leave it eventually... the cats however are little *insert rude words* and would have the whole thing over in seconds!!! You can't really train cats either

Re: Christmas Trees
Hi everyone sorry been hectic at work so haven't been able to log in for a while. A quick update tree is up and sasha has been very good she did investigate but a firm leave and she lost interest. We went for artificial in the end because of the pine needles didn't want them to get stuck in her ppaws xx
