cracked my samsung note 2 glass :(

hi was out with my puppy last night and phone rang went to answer it and lexi seen a cat went for it and phone went flying out my hand cracked the screen phone is still working i ordered new glass off ebay but keep getting told not to attempt it but cant afford to get it fixed at shops has any one ever tried to do repair like this .

any help would be much appreciated...

Not on a samsung but my OH change a smashed screen in an iphone 4 following a tutorial on utube he managed it fine

cheers ive watched a few videos on utube so will give it a go if i break it i break it ill just be carefull n hope for t best .
