Lying means that person can't be trusted or that they would rather lie than trust you with the truth. Either way the friendship is doomed. I would withdraw from the friendship.

Depends on the extent of the lying.. i've got a friend who over exaggerates EVERYTHING but there's no malice in it just white lies... she's like Jay from the inbetweeners Laughing  But there are others that have lied about really awful things and I've never spoken to them again, never would again either. I despise lying.

Can't bare liars, I'd rather have a thief than a liar, with a thief you know to hide your stuff Big Grin

No. 2.

Then depending on their answer I'd decide what to do next.

I don't understand why people lie? would probably give them the chance to explain why they felt the need to lie and then take it from there

If a person is a habitual liar, you never know where you are with them - whether to trust them or not. They make their own noose to hang themselves with.

It just depends on so many things whether I'd keep them as a friend - if as your hypothetical question has it they lie about everything, then no, they're history.
