what a plank
sorry just need to have a rant,i've always been so proud of my son, even if he is a pain in the back side at times ,he passed his driving test first time at the start of the year and i remember telling him at the time, its easy to pass your test but not so easy to keep your licence, any ways after 3 cars with different boom boxes, loud exhausts we finally got a nice fiesta for him,he was out driving it,washing and polishing it,really looking after it,a couple of months ago he got a apprenticeship at a really good garage with a guaranteed job at the end of the two years, having a full car licence really helped him get it.so he phones me up this morning 10 minutes after he left home to say that he just got sapped by a police speed camera doing 35 in a 30 limit and that he'd already been done for speeding a few months ago ,some thing a did'nt know.so if they do him for this offence he will lose his licence.part of me thinks serve him right,he could be putting himself and others in danger and then i feel sorry for him in case he losses his job,i'm upset with him and feel let down

Re: what a plank
kids are sent to try us question is to let him suffer and lose his lience or take the rap yourself so he doesn't, it's a lose lose situation because if he loses his licence then he could lose his job and if you say you were driving then your insurance premium goes up Although as mums we'll do anything for them for you.

Re: what a plank
Oh dear 35 in a 30 limit is very bad luck as you are allowed to be 10% over the limit, so at 33mph he would have been OK.
Hope it all works out for you.

Re: what a plank
my main concern is that he gets to keep his job,if he losses his licence a lesson may be learnt,or does that sound mean?

Re: what a plank
Me personally am a soft sh1te so I'd take the points but he wouldn't learn a lesson, the state of the economy, will he get another job easily? Can you ring his boss unbeknownst to him an ask?

Re: what a plank
Oh it's a difficult one was it a fixed camera or a police patrol? Fixed cameras would have a pic of the driver were as a patrol wouldn't but do you want to take a chance? It's a mess isn't it

Re: what a plank

Re: what a plank
Just a thought Hun my brother got a speeding ticket and rather than getting 3 points he was offered a driving awareness course if he attended he had to pay the fine but got no points, not sure if this applies in the first 2 years but hopefully it could

Re: what a plank
I've been thinking about it all day hopefully he was just doing 35 or if not they offer him an awareness course

Re: what a plank
i cant stop thinking about it,i feel really bad for him,i know he did wrong but the first time he was doing 27 in a 20,then 35 in a 30.if he was doing excessive amount over i would say he deserves a ban,to be honest i never do 30 in a 30,its really hard to do,still it is the law.

Re: what a plank
I've just been caught speeding and have the speed awareness course details here. (Thames Valley Police)
In a 30MPH zone as long as you are traveling 35-42MPH you may be offered the course.
Over 42MPH is guaranteed fixed penalty or court summons.
The only other condition I can see is that you may only be offered one course every 3 years.
Not sure how much it costs now though but it used to be approx £20.00 more than the fixed penalty charge.

Re: what a plank
We've got everything crossed here xx have a little read through this
Speed awareness courses are now offered by most police forces, although they are offered only at the discretion of the fixed penalty issuing force. If you have not been offered a speed awareness course in lieu of penalty points, it is worth asking the issuing force to consider this as an alternative. They are not obliged to accept your request, however if they do, you will avoid having your licence endorsed but you will have to pay to attend the course. If you have previous endorsements, you are unlikely to be offered a speed awareness course.
