new member of an americam bulldog cross staff
Hi everyone, im new here and a 2nd time amb x staff. My previous puppy was a female amb x staff but I had to have out put her down ay 4 months old through no fault of her own. Her health deteriated very quickly, she wouldnt eat or drink anything at all. After nimerous visits to the vets they finally gave her a kidney scan and found out she had abnormal kidneys, to the point where they were almost non existent so I decided to have her put to sleep. Me and the kids were very devasted so for my daighters birthday we brought her another one, this one a male his now 12 weeks old and coming on extremely well.
His dad was a full breed white johnsons type amb and his mum a full breed black staff.
I was wondering if anyone has a full grown one and could shed some light on how big he would be. His a big lad already due to be weighed again end of this month. At 10 weeks old he weighed 7.4kg.
Any info on the size of a adult malenwould be much appreciated. Thank you for reading

Hi & welcome.
I'm surprised that they used a male Johnson type Ambull with a female Stafford - that could have made the birth very tricky & possibly dangerous for the bitch! Hopefully all went well.

Hi ella and everyone else im jealous! id love a full breed breed thats what I want next. I know mu pups only 12 weeks old but when do you think it would be best to think about getting a new one. Im addicted I think!! The only thing I wanted to know really was how big an adult amb x staff would get to when fully grown.

Re: new member of an americam bulldog cross staff
Well my Chance is a rescue but there are a number of ambulls in rescues now, but unfortunately not many good breeders of pure ambulls!
Personally I wouldn't get another dog until you've got a good ground work down with pupster, by i mean, house trained, past the teenage bit, trained etc also if you aren't aware ambulls don't mature until a lot later then staffies, normally at 3-4 years old. SO having said that i would leave it until he is 18 months old minimum 2 years + possibly being better.
Regards to size, the Johnson type are the biggest type of ambull, but staffy X ambull what i have seen tend to be quite a lot smaller then an adult ambull, i would guesstimate being male he will probably get to 30-35kg maybe a bit more pushing 40kg.
My Chance is a Scott type which is the leaner athletic type so not as heavy as Johnson types, so he seems to have topped out at 48kg
But really you will just have to wait and see how he grows up :)any photos of the little guy?

Hopefully the breeder won't repeat the mating. That puts the bitch's health at terrible risk.selej123 wrote:I know! She had a litter of ten was her 1st lot. And they were all very chunky. Bless her she did wellCaryll wrote:Hi & welcome.

Thanks for your advice. Yh I waa gona wait till about that age anyway his well socialised goesnout everyday so hopefully hell like a new friend when the time comes. I saw a scotts one on my local walk on aunday and he was only 18 weeks old and was huge already! Beautiful strong boy though. How do you upload photos btw! And ill attach a few. The vets did estimate around 30kg so im guessin that would be about right then.

Re: new member of an americam bulldog cross staff
yer ambulls tend to grow quickly as pup, but then grow very little after that so makes them look huge as pups!selej123 wrote:Thanks for your advice. I would say 30kg sounds about right
