I think everyone has a right to their freedom of choice, but its a very important event and if it wasn't for our soldiers who fought for her freedom she wouldn't be nothing!

How to win friends and influence people is the phrase that comes to mind for me , forget about the charity and think about the sentiment behind wearing a poppy

I think that everybody has the right to choose.
But. Those in the public eye should show respect and wear one - and that includes tv presenters.

It's not about charity, it's about respect for all those who died in the effort to retain the freedom and peace we now enjoy. I wouldn't sack her providing she is otherwise doing a good job, but I'd sit her down and give her a bloddy good talking to.

It's totally not about the charity, it's a mark of respect and she has a privileged job in the public eye so she should wear one

It must be nice for her to have the freedom to choose not to wear one.....just can't think of a reason from the past that has enabled her that freedom. I do however notice when looking at her that she ain't got blue eyes and blonde hair.

No I don't think she should be sacked as it is her choice to whether she wears one or not. However I find her reasoning for this a little strange, wearing a poppy is more about showing respect for the fallen rather than supporting the charity-silly, deluded woman

I get her point but i totally disagree with it. Without the army we would not be sitting here in this country and she would not even be alive cause her whole family would have been exterminated.

On TV, yes she should have worn it as a mark of respect

I disagree with her decision and reasons for declining to wear the poppy, although I don't think she should be sacked. From what she's given as her reason, it sounds like she was actually trying to do the right thing. Just seems like she hasn't understood the meaning of the poppy - it isn't about following a charity; rather, it's a symbol to show your respect for the dead.
If it isn't in the job description to wear the poppy, it would be stupid to fire her, especially as it would be firing due to a difference of opinions.
Personally, I think the employers of such public figures should include something in their contracts about the poppy (or similar), to state that, if they don't want to wear the poppy, they don't get screen-time on that day.
