jealous puppy
Hi everyone I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago about sashas bad behaviour. We are having real trouble with her lately. She is really being naughty when I am at home during the week I only see her for a couple of hours a day because of work. My hubby is at home full time so she is never left alone for longer than a few hours. The problems occur when I am at home at weekends and on school holidays. She whines constantly in the mornings and she is just plain naughty she is constantly trying yo sit inbetween us and has started to wee and poo on the floor in different rooms around the house. Last saturday she got upstairs and ripped the hallway carpet to shreds we are only getting the behaviour when im at home at weekends and holidays other than that she is as good as gold. Im at a loss of what to do about it as its getting worse as she is getting bigger

Re: jealous puppy
All I can really think is to go back to basic with her training, maybe do some indoor games for metal stimulation when you are there? Sorry not much help x

Re: jealous puppy
Thats the advice ive been following. We have also stopped her just jumping onto the couch when she feels like it. I wouldn't let her this morning so she went to walk outside to the kitchen then turned came back in and did a wee right in front of me and the garden door was wide open at the time. A thing that really surprised me was when over the park today taking her for a run she wouldn't sit for her ball so I put it in my pocket she jumped up at my open hand and nipped me once then tried to do it again. I didnt know what to do I was so shocked I put her lead on and brought her straight home. She has been a nightmare all day nothing seems to be working with her at the moment

Re: jealous puppy
She's probably hitting that awkward teenage phase too, being naughty, pushing boundaries.

Re: jealous puppy
You're probably right she knows that she isn't allowed to wee inside. She hasnt done that for months then a few weeks ago she just changed its like having a different dog in the house

Re: jealous puppy
Im not sure if this helps, but Jasmine gets really, really WEIRD about going out to her place for wee wee's when the weather isn't good. It doesn't necessarily have to be raining, just damp or windy also. She, too, has wee'd just inside the back door when its been open, in front of me. And if i don't take her out and physically put her on her toilet place, which is a section of gravel especially for toilets, she will poo right next to the gravel bit on the patio. Literally right next to it! Its very odd. I think she has a wet gravel phobia lol!

Re: jealous puppy
Also, i tend not to allow Jasmine the run of the house. She is always within earshot and I check on her constantly. For other times, she has a cage which is left open, and she has started going in there on command. Useful for times when I need to get on! Baby gates are a godsend for me too, as i don't like her to spend too much time in her bed if she doesn't want to, but she is still under my supervision. I, personally, don't allow my dog upstairs, but thats just my personal choice. Also, I can keep an eye on her signs for needing to go, and take her out to the garden. With regards to the snapping, agree its probably adolescence, and would ignore her stroppy behaviour and give her time out.

Re: jealous puppy
Hi jasminesmum sasha isnt allowed upstairs and she knows it. She jumped the stairgate when I wasnt there. We were giving her a trial run at being out of her crate while we popped out. Sasha isnt left unsupervised she wee'd right in front of me as if on purpose it was a lovely sunny day where we are yesterday and she loves the rain so there was no reason why she couldn't have gone outside. Her bad behaviour is purely when im home at weekends or school holidays. I checked up on her behaviour at home during the day today and the hubby tells me shes been really good. So really not sure what to do

Re: jealous puppy
Mmmm ok. Seems like she may just be pushing the boundaries. I Hope you find a solution soon. Puppies can be extremely frustrating!!
