what age do they calm down
Hello. I have just joined your group and its brilliant. I have a 12 month old male staffy. I still call him a pup although friends tell me hes not really a puppy now.
The thing is he is a complete nutter. When people come to the house he jumps up at them constantly. He always grabs our sleeves, rips holes in my sofa and is totally hypher. He will nick anything he can get his paws on from tea towels to remote controls but the thing that winds me up the most is his nipping.
I had a bitch staffy once and she was so laid back she was horizontal so you can imagine my surprise when this little devil came to live with us.
He has been neutred which cured the problem of him doing a runner but can someone please reassure me that things will get better and when lol
Many thanks
Tracey

We alternate...one night he has a 45 minute lead walk then the next night he will go off lead running and rock climbing on the beach for about an hour. He is fed on a raw food diet

You may need to increase the amount of walks per day for example an hour in the morning and an hour later on in the day, each day.

By 12 months he should be getting 3 x 45 mins walk a day with some play time for mental stimulation also. They need this to be contented perhaps you can increase the walk times.

I will try to do that. We play alot st home for mental stimulation although the minute we stop the rug or carpet gets the full force of his teeth lol

Re: what age do they calm down
Hi Tracey, and welcome to the best doggy forum around!
I too have a bonkers boy, he's nearly 2 now, but plenty of exercise, training and just growing up a bit have made him somewhat calmer, so don't despair!
Do take your time to have a good look around the site (it's very user-friendly) and read the many tutorials, especially the one for new owners (I know you're not a new owner but there is a lot of good advice in there).
Things will improve! Do keep in touch, there's always someone here.
