vet trip in order
I mentioned Vinny had a bit of a flare up under his arms on Sunday. It's settled but he is still mega itchy and has a few bumps. But both he and Roxy have been up all night scratching I really do suspect it's the wet grass and all the new insects our summer rain brings, but I think we'll take them over to the vet today to be double sure and hopefully get a good supply of antihistamines. (They're up to date on dewormers and tick and flea treatments)
The OH was awake all night with them as they both kept going in and out and itching and just not getting comfy. Now all three are crashed out. So as soon as they're up, I'll get them ready. Fingers crossed it's allergies

Re: vet trip in order
Thanks Inez. Just back - anyone would think the vet's is the best visit in the world for these two! They drag us in there and were all over the vet (Roxy's favourite guy!) - I think he spent more time cuddling them than anything
Thankfully it was like I thought - allergies from change of season and wet grass. Vin suffers more so he was given a cortisone injection and course of antibiotics for the sore under his arm.
Roxy and he were both given antihistamines and I now finally have an equivalent to Piriton that I've read so much about on here. The vet said antihistamines will make them sleepy which is good since they didn't sleep last night. They're both walking around dozy now!
We were also given a shampoo for sensitive skin so we'll give that a go but I think once the rain clears up and it's hotter - much easier
Phew

Re: vet trip in order
Maybe try giving him a wipe down with a damp towel when he comes in from a walk or being outside, this may calm down the irritation a bit.

Re: vet trip in order
Thanks Kathy, we have started doing that - especially since Vinny loves belly crawling around the garden! Roxy's far too much of a lady to be seen crawling on grass!

These two were like zombies on the antihistamines yesterday - but are certainly bright eyed this morning!

Re: vet trip in order
It does seem to have eased, thanks Hayley. They're so sleepy though which I'm not used to! and you know us mummy's - worry, worry worry!Darcy-may wrote:How was the scratching? Hope it's eased
I had to give Vinny 1 x antibiotc, 5 x cortisone pills and 2 x antihistamines this morning - wasn't happy about all of that (I wasn't happy- Vinny was more than ok with getting a couple of pieces of "spiked" sausages!" Roxy has had her 1 x antihistamine, so I guess they'll be out for the count for a few hours.

All three at our practice are alright - often see women done up to the nines in the waiting area!Inezmaria70 wrote:wish mine was hunky he is more gangly and geeky!RoxysMum wrote:Very true, Inez - exactly what the hunky vet said
As for Madam Roxy - she looooves the one we saw yesterday - goes mental for him. He was trying to examine Vin and Rox reached a paw up on to either of his hips and I watched a man's face melt into love as he gave in to cuddles
