Is that a caravan or one of those portable houses! Caravans seem like fun! But not ready to move around from place to place just yet!

Re: would you buy an canavan if you had the money?
you dont really want to move a lot with one of these... i think it's mu uncle said about £1000 to move to somewhere else
Re: would you buy an canavan if you had the money?
We've got a static caravan, but the government put VAT on holiday homes last year and it pushed the site fees up from £2500 to £3000 so were getting rid of it this year but if I didn't have to worry about money yes I get another one

My Sister In Law has one and it is a home from home they even have a lean to thing on the side of it with a washer dryer in , she is a little nuts
If money was no object then I would probably have something like this AND a great big hooge motorhome to break up the monotony of same place

You could just park it on the road outside your place Janey , paint all the windows with coastal scapes on one side and countryside scapes on the other , sit inside drinking cider and enjoy the viewsjaney wrote:Ooooo motor home please (although I can't drive) so a caravan would suit

See I'm full of fantastic ideas and never too far away from home if you get fed up as the weather isn't what you were expecting etc , and Janey's Pub within easy reach where the cider is freejaney wrote:What a great plan, I am sure the neighbors wouldn't mind!Dave wrote:You could just park it on the road outside your place Janey , paint all the windows with coastal scapes on one side and countryside scapes on the other , sit inside drinking cider and enjoy the viewsjaney wrote:Ooooo motor home please (although I can't drive) so a caravan would suit

Re: would you buy an canavan if you had the money?
i saw on onesitewhere2 normal caravans was put together to make one huge caravan one day one day
Re: would you buy an canavan if you had the money?
The one in the pic here is not so portable by the time they have dismantled the decking to shift it , nice though
Think it would be a good mid way solution for us , OH got fed up really quickly with the Tourer die to all the hassle packing unpacking etc , couldn't afford a motorhome and couldn't park it on my drive anyway . Only thing that puts these in doubt in my mind is same old same old and I think it would gost a bit more than £1000 to move unless you were going across the road

Good luck

We are looking for one at the moment, have had a tow bar arrive to be fixed. Trying to get away on weekends as one holiday a year isnt enough.

problem with these canavans you never will get your money back my dad mate bought one for 34k and 3 year later he sold it for 14k
Re: would you buy an canavan if you had the money?
Thats quite bad , think generally these tend to be long term investments and you will lose out short term , always . Never make money its all about balancing out the costs against what you would have spent on holidays .Steve wrote:problem with these canavans you never will get your money back my dad mate bought one for 34k and 3 year later he sold it for 14k
For instance our tourer was + 13K when we bought it and then sold it for 9.5K 3 years later and included probably 1K worth of extras so a "loss" of 4.5K generally tourers do not devalue so fast. And for this "loss" of 4.5K we had several holidays a year of 1-2 weeks but we never maximised the weekend breaks as the packing up , setting up and pulling around was too much hassle for us .

Re: would you buy an canavan if you had the money?
yea i think an week holiday in canavan in skeggy is like £340 well depending where you go
Re: would you buy an canavan if you had the money?
I'm basing it against foreign holidays really as if we didnt have the dogs it would be sun and lager every time , last hol we did was Fuerteventura about 5 years ago , just before we got the Caravan and that was 2K all inclusive and our only holiday for the year , going down to Sue's place in Cornwall is about 350-450 pw depending on time of year

Been thinking about a trailer. Not a fan of the bus type but the ultra - light trailer are really nice!

Not a great fan of caravans or getting stuck behind them in traffic. So long as they never go near a road they are OK if you like that kind of thing

Think it would have to be a motorhome.
My old line manager retired last year and has gone "travelling" with his wife.
I'm forever getting emails of him in France/Spain/Switzerland/Sweden/in some old castle I'm supposed to know the history of, lol.
Don't think a caravan would be quite so portable as that.
