Re: why do people lie for?
why do people lie? Many reasons, as many as there are lies.
But this one made me smile to myself - a few years ago my ex was sent to the USA. He came back (not to me, obviously) and said he'd given up smoking. Reason was he had to fly from Knoxville ( ) to Chicago ( ) and was not allowed to smoke, and wasn't allowed to smoke at Chicago airport where he waited for several hours for his flight to London, on which he was not allowed to smoke. When he landed, he was cured.
A couple of years later when I was trying to give the evil weed up, he recommended that I go to a local pharmacy who were so helpful when he decided to pack up smoking.
He'd completely forgotten the gadding about America story!

Try doing my job! unfortunately I'm becoming very cynical but it is quite fun to challenge the lies and watch the person unravel

Re: why do people lie for?
I don't like lies or liars. My ex who I was with for 18 months when I was 19/20 was a compulsive liar and eventually it broke us up.
I can't lie to save my life, I can't even lie if I'm playing poker or bullsh*t... I always touch my face if I lie, it's a total giveaway and all my friends know!! I know I'm doing it but I can't stop!!
At least they know I'm honest

People lie for all different reasons, yes to be a good one you must have a very good memory. I find it so much easier to always tell the truth you don't have to remember what you have said then.

Re: why do people lie for?
Everybody lies, even if it's once in a year. Just a part of being human. Lying isn't necessarily bad; rather the reason and subject of the lie. If you're lying for the benefit of somebody else, I don't see anything wrong with it, provided it doesn't hurt anyone.
Example: If a friend tells you something personal and somebody else asks you if you know what it was, and you reply, "No," then that would be a lie. You could reply, "Yes, but I'm not telling you," but that leaves you open for an argument with that nosey person.

Re: why do people lie for?
i'm not talking about lying to protect someone else personal problem or secrets, i'm talking about people lying to make them self look better like just example i got unlimited phone calls, unlimited internet, unlimited texts, unlimited photo share whatever else you can get and then later on saying they have not got unlimited net or phone calls.Eleanor wrote:Everybody lies, even if it's once in a year. Re: why do people lie for?
That sort of lying is just pointless and will only end up getting the person into trouble.
