I have moved this post to Staffy Health Issues for more views.
That does look sore, what does the vet say ?
Could it be where something has been rubbing there ?

It does look like something has rubbed or a reaction to something? Has it just come on?

Aww poor baby it looks really sore, does he have a harness, could it be rubbing? Perhaps a trip the vets if you've not been already

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
That area is a particularly senstive place on a dog, so harnesses can sometimes rub and cause irritation. Sore patches are very often made worse through the day, each time the dog moves its leg. If I were you, I'd contact a vet for advice, rather than use home remedies, as the armpit area provides an excellent breeding ground for bacteria and it's best to sort out the problem before any possible infections set in.
In the mean time, you can try bathing it with salt water and patting it dry afterwards, making sure that it's dried thoroughly afterwards. If you normally use harnesses, you might want to stick to collars or haltis, as well, until it heals.

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
Does sound like it's the harness. It could just be because the harness isn't the correct size, but some dogs have very sensitive skin in the groove behind their elbows, so harnesses aren't always suitable.pants wrote:Thanks Kathy.

Yay Vin had it once from a coat I put on him which had rubbed.
Do try the sudocrem though as it does help.
Perhaps wash the harness just a water wash through the machine, or get another that doesn't rub.

Yes thank you, I will wash it now, and get him an appointment ASAP.
I'm sure it's the harness now as it is a chunky one that he's not used too.
Thanks again

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
I'd agree with the above comments - looks like an abrasive rub. sudocreme is a great treatment!

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
Here's a pic I took of him today wearing his harness as you can see its a bit chunky for him, that's why I don't often use it.
Do you think I should just get rid of it to save future problems or is there a way to stick with it?

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
Is it a leather harness? I cant quite tell.
If so that's your problem I think they are very harsh and could cause rubbing.
I always use the fleece lined ones much more comfy.

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
I'd get rid of it, definitely. Yes I think a little bit of salon will be ok, so Long as he's not licking it, We use an ezydog chest plate harness. Nice and soft http://www.ezydog.co.uk/chest-plate-harness/

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
Maybe it was just rubbing, found have Ben a little loose /tight perhaps you could (once his sore is healed) do a little bit of his walk with it on and the change to his collar or something else and gradually extend the time he wears it just until he's used to it

Yes it looks Nylon so probably quite stiff.
Do have a look at Hayleys link as Ezydog is very comfy.
Hope it heals quickly.

That leg looks sore - hope his leg heals up quickly x
Chiquito has both an Ezydog chest plate harness (as above) and a Puppia harness. I do love the Ezydog one, however I found that the Puppia is softer and more comfortable for Chiquito to wear (it sits back from his underarms, is wide and doesn't move when he walks so it doesn't rub at all).
This is the same Puppia one Chiquito wears- http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/231056943099?lpid=87

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
Rocky had a harness that used to rub him under his arms, that's why I asked if it was something rubbing. We also use the EzyDog chestplate harness which is more comfortable for him.

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
Ozzy had a similar rubbing mark from a harness we used to use but after advice from the guys here we switched to an Ezydog chest plate harness and he's ok now. Oz doesn't have much fur underneath so we have yo be careful. Sudacrem is really good tho as long as he doesn't lick it all off

Re: Rash appeared pics included.
Just looks like some kind of nylon webbing , agree if you do need a harness then go for something like a fleece one or the Ezydog which I also use but these days only for car transport and tend to walk them both on just their collarspants wrote:Its not leather It's made from asat whatever that is?
