Walking on the lead problems at 17 wks old
Hi all from me and Baloo
I'm having some problems putting baloo on a lead.
Sometimes he's fine and others he just won't move no matter how much I try to motivate him.
I'm currently trying to walk him on a puppy harness and I think it was making him a little sore under his arms. I had put some baphanthan on and it's all cleared up.
I have made the harness bigger so it shouldn't carry on making him sore but for some reason he still played up, like he's being stubban ;-(
Weirdly enough he will walk besides me without a lead and not run of at any time as if he doesn't want to leave me. People we have seen have asked how I have trained him to do this! To be honest I have no idea he's just happy to be of the lead ;-)
The problem with this is roads and cars an I will not alow him to be of the lead on a pavment so I have to drive him to the park where he can run free.
Any help would be much aprecated
Many thanks
Iain
Ps the first walk I brought him on I had him of the lead
Also he never leads the way he will keep up or walk behind me letting me be the Alfa.

We did but he chewed through it, it was quite cheep and made from material rather than leather!

You just have to be persistent, maybe a collar would be better but as for the chewing again it would have to be a behavior that stop. There isn't really an over night fix, its just simple training

I will get him a new collar tomorrow and start again with him ;-)
I'm going I bring him to lessons as of next week and hopefully that will help to.
Thanks for your replies

Yes, just be patient. Have you tried taking a squeeky toy out with you just to get his attention?

My pup got sore under the front legs with puppy harness but now he is in a nice padded bigger one it is fine. They don't seem to pad the smaller ones

Classes are a good idea. Once there he will have so much to take his attention he'll forget he's got his collar and lead on.
