Blue Staff pup 16wks turning a light gold

Hi all

I am new to this site and also new to having a Staffy :-)
I got my little man just over 8wks ago now and I love him to bits.

He is a Blue Staff called Baloo (KC name Sky's Cracker).

So I have notices from almost the time we got him he has some light coloured markings on him almost a fawn colour (Light Gold). Theses markings are becoming more an more prominent the older he is getting (Now 16 wks old).

Both his parents were Blue both with over 5 generations of blue in the family lines.

I have done about of reading but it all seems to contradict against one another.

Apparently Blue on Blue mating waters down the colour? I have spoken to a friend who is a Cientist an he has said this is simply not true and there is no prof of dilation from two of the same colour dogs breeding.

So I gues the question is will my little man become more fawn colour as he gets older or will his coat start to darken after the first year?

I do know that blue on blue mating is only an excuse for breeders to get some quick cash, and a result of this breeding could be Colour Dilution Alopecia: https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t17716-colour-dilution-alopecia Unfortunately I'm not very experienced with this, but there are many members who are and will be able to offer advice shortly.

Afraid you are on the wrong track with this, Blue comes from Black Brindle , hence as Black then all Blues carry Brindle the brindle pattern gene its just a matter of how much or how little shows up. The issue of 2 Blues mating is not about diluting the colour it is about increase of CDA and quite simply is bad breeding so we always advise people to avoid Blue / Blue matings as will any decent KC Breeder . There is nothing currently in KC guidelines to prevent anyone breeding 2 KC reg blues , so anyone can produce KC pups from KC parents and have all the health test in place etc but unfortunately there is no screening for CDA and it can manifest itself at up to 3 years old , so as an education for everyone just because the dogs are KC and health checks are in place still doesnt mean that all is ok as you really have to look at parentage , COI etc

The breeder has had a few litters and she seemed very nice and professional.

His dad is called Ace and he can be seen on google pictures. He is from a strong line of dogs.

From speaking to a friend he said the only true blues come from a black dog an a brindle or white mum ether or.

I'm going to try and upload some pictures on my laptop later as I can't seem to work it out in my Iphone so you can see the markings

He looks just like my two. They are both from blue parents and their coat can go lighter but both have slight brindle in them my boy has more

Hi there, I also have one of Aces offspring  who is now 14weeks old & is a blue fawn, They were born blue, then at 4 weeks the whole litter fawned out! here he is a 8weeks, I'll try & find a recent pic as he's now very fawn!

heres some taken 2 weeks ago too.... He's really fawned out now, guess I'll just need to wait tip he's older to see if any CDA develops. :/ He's kept his blue muzzle though & is blue flecked through his back & tail....
