Strange.
This has happened a few times don't know if anyone can shed any light at all.
The Stepdaughter comes to stay every other weekend and every time she has a cold she has this terrible cough.
Everytime she coughs Vinnie starts to shake and climbs all over me, its quite disturbing.
He is doing it now as he can hear her coughing from the living room. He doesn't do it when anyone else coughs.
Any ideas? I must admit she has always got it and I have said many times she should go to the doctors, so wonder if he is picking up that it is not right.

Re: Strange.
I wouldn't want to take chances. Maybe she should go to a doctor, just in case! Dogs are very good at picking things up.

Re: Strange.
Yes I told her to get her Mother to take and ask for an x-ray.
Maybe nothing but as you said Eleanor, take no chances I do believe Vin is telling me something. I bear in mind that all pics I have seen of her as a child her mother always with a fag and inside the house!

maybe it's the 'tone' of her cough .. and the fact he can't see the noise source ..Everytime she coughs Vinnie starts to shake and climbs all over me, its quite disturbing.

Re: Strange.
My OH has asthma and can have days where he sneezes alot and it really worries Harvey, he just doesn't know what to do, he wants to climb over my OH to make sure he's alright, but the sneezes scare him so he tries to hide under or in things, and shakes a lot. He is very sensitive and anything can really worry him

Re: Strange.
Still think it's worth a doctor's check. Could be just a sound he dislikes, but dogs are very good at picking up health issues - even minor or common ones such as colds. This could be as a result of any number of senses that humans aren't equipped with at such a high level; hearing, smell, etc..

Re: Strange.
Poor Vinnie, he's obviously not happy. Maybe your stepdaughter's cough sounds like a bark to him?
However, if she often has a cold and cough she maybe should see a doctor about it.

That sounds very much like asthma!Inezmaria70 wrote:Yes I told her to get her Mother to take and ask for an x-ray.

How old is she? Can she go to the quacks on her own, maybe? Even the practice nurses will be able to help if it's asthma - they'll get her to blow into a thingy (don't know what it's called) to measure lung capacity, and they may sugest a 'reliever'.

Re: Strange.
She is nearly 17 Caryll so yes she could go on her own, if her Mother wont take her I will.
Yes could be Asthma, especially under past circumstances.

Re: Strange.
Very good point. I had asthma as a child and it comes back sometimes when Dempsey's shedding or if I get a cold. When it does come back, Dempsey gets a bit worried, bless him.
