Feeling optimistic.
After a while of searching, and looking into buying a brand new purebred Staffordshire, we discovered we don't have the funds for that route right now, and I don't have the patience to wait until we do. So I decided to type into the search bar on google "adopt a puppy in Ohio" one last time. I came across this beautiful girl named Tawny, she was a brindle with a white chest, little white streak on her face. The website said she was 8 months old, but when we got to the Human society, just about a mile away from our home. She looks to be maybe a year old or older now. She's a big beautiful girl and very skittish, she didn't let my husband and I pet her very much.
Walking into the Humane society, was a very eye opening. Very heart breaking. So many dogs in big cages. right next to each other. so loud and no wonder she was so skittish. So we went outside and were shown another bully type mix dog named Camden. I'd say he was a fawn/brindle color. His fur looked like striped Honey. We didn't get to get very close to him because of where his cage was. While we were out there looking at Camden, the nice lady had told us about Puppies that will be ready for adoption in 3 weeks.
We got to see pictures, there are three girls and 2 boys. Mom is all white and Dad looked like he was brindle? not really sure, if that was the dad I saw or not if if it was another pup. So we filled out the Application, and they were willing to take a personal reference since we never owned a pet to have a vet reference to give. We will here between now and 3 weeks from now if our application was approved, and if we'll get to meet the puppies.
All the puppies were black, only a few had other markings on them. The one Girl had white on her chest and on her paws. but a purely black face. I'm hoping and praying that this ends in a happily ever after for us. We've mostly been patient in our quest in searching for a dog. These are Purebred American Staffordshire Terriers. That is A-OK with me :-)
All this after FINALLY, getting the husband to agree to adopt just any old dog at this point. And suddenly, something we've been looking for fell into place.

Re: Feeling optimistic.
I sure hope so!! The lady tried to scare me at the end I think. She was telling us that Black dogs are harder to adopt out, because other dogs and people can't read their face as well as other colors of dog. and I had never heard that before. We don't care what color our new fur baby will be. We'll train him/her up right and others wont have to worry about reading their poor little face lol. I'm trying very hard not to get overly excited as I did last time. But I did venture over to the American Staffordshire forum on here and, it looks like there's not a vast difference in appearance between a Staffordshire Bull terrier and American Staffordshire Terriers.. ( I actually thought they were one and the same.) Looks like I'm going to have to brush up on some research! lol

Re: Feeling optimistic.
Yeah, I just looked. Shame on me, lol. It's been a long while since I read all of the information on this page. So Since we'll have an AmStaff pup, do I have to strictly post about him/her on the AmStaff forum? or am I allowed to post about him/her anywhere on this forum? lol Gosh. This is going to be a very long 3 weeks. and JUST IN TIME FOR MY KNEE SURGERY TOOO!!! LOL

Re: Feeling optimistic.
I can't wait to relearn how to post pictures lol! There are pictures of the pups on Facebook, but they aren't mine so I'm afraid to share them or to download them onto my computer. I will wait and see if we get called to go meet with them. And take pics after we know for sure. Lol so far my hubby and I really like either of the boys and tier markings are cute cute cute!! Lol and one of the girls is black with white chest and paws. She's cute too. So hopefully we will get one. The boys are the only too that look like they have inherited their fathers brindle.

Re: Feeling optimistic.
Thanks, Janey and sazzle.... Caryll, it does. If all goes in our favor, it will cost us $250 but that includes their shots, spay/neuter and it also includes a training class for obedience. Which the hubby thinks he will be in charge of lol. We are very hopeful and happy to see that we're close to being fur baby parents.
