dry food recomendations - raw food for pups Empty raw food for pups

hi everyone, can I just say how useful I have found this site already Smile but I have read numerous posts and I think I'm going to go dizzy if I read any more so hopefully someone can set me straight on raw food Smile

we have a 9week pup called Belle and I would love to put her on a raw food diet only after reading everyone's comments about it being the best for their dogs (if it agrees with them) so here I go lol!!

can I do this from now?
what raw food is best for pups?
will she be ok having 4 raw meals a day?
and would someone please be kind enough to give ideas on a meal plan for her, as im a tad confused about the ratio.

thanks in advance Rachael Big Grin Big Grin

Yes, you can start your pup on raw straight away!

Have a read through this as it specifically mentions pups....

Thanks for the link I still find the whole raw feeding confusing though :/ I'm worried that I might over feed her or go wrong somewhere down the line. Can I ask how you started raw feeding? Boneless or bones & portion sizes. Thanks Smile

I started with raw mince & chicken wings. Unfortunately my dog became chicken intolerant, but I just switched to lamb spines when he was about 5 or 6 months old.

Feeding raw isn't an exact science. The ratios that the link gives are approximate. So you don't have to work everything out to the nth degree. If you feed raw meaty bones, plus a little offal a couple of times a week then you won't go far wrong. Just start with one protein source (most people start with chicken) and leave the pup on that for a month before gradually introducing new sources (such as lamb, pork & beef).

i started as much with large whole pieces, so chicken carcasses, chunks of meat etc as much as possible
