Horrible time lately :( Update! :)
First topic message reminder :
Hi everyone!
Well Rocky's demodex seems to be getting worse again, bleeding a lot and scabbing as well as a lot of fur lost around his eyes now as well as the lost fur from previously (neck front and back, complete loss under front paw, and rear leg)
He is on anti biotics, the first night we gave them to him he vomited straight after dinner, so we kept an eye on this, and has been on the tablets for roughly 2 weeks now and he has been fine until 2 days ago, he hasn't been himself at all, after he eats he walks around head and tail down whimpering and heaving wanting to throw up, I've stopped the tablet to see how he went but he was still a bit funny so back to the vet tomorrow :(Any idea what this could be? Just so worried there is an underlying issue, not sure if I should go to a different vet now either.
I'm at my wits end with this demodex he really hasn't been himself and im just so worried.

Re: Horrible time lately :( Update! :)
He is doing good thanks Hayley Vet said to keep an eye on him in case of any side effects, but he has generally been a lot better since stopping the anti-biotic, so fingers crossed this works out! x

Re: Horrible time lately :( Update! :)
Just a little update on Rocky's progress!
He is doing so well on the Ivermectin, the vet started us on small doses, increased daily, which is given orally through a syringe, his skin has cleared right up, no more scabbing and redness, as well as the inflammation going right down! He is still itching a bit, but this is mostly after we bath him, and the vet said this would happen, so we just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't go crazy with scratching himself.
He is on a lighter dose of anti-biotics to keep infection and secondary skin infections at bay, and he doesn't seem to be reacting to these as much as the first lot which were a lot stronger, and he is back into a normal eating routine again, which Im relieved about!
So happy that something is finally working for him! xx

Definitely difficult seeing them poorly, but it could have been something a lot worse, so just thankful it is something treatable Thanks Hayley xx

Re: Horrible time lately :( Update! :)
Just another update on Rocky's Demodex.
He had his vet appointment last week after his first lot of Ivermectin finished, (which was a months worth) Skin scrape was negative was over the moon!!! Hair loss has stopped, no more oily skin and fur, shine is starting to come back, so there has been a major improvement! The vet has given us another lot of ivermectin for 10 more days, then another skin scrape, and if all negative, then hopefully we are in the clear!! Yay for Rocky!!

Re: Horrible time lately :( Update! :)
Just got back from the vets for Rocky's 2nd skin scrape All clear!! Yay
The vet told us to do a monthly treatment of advocate just to be on the safe side for now and we can now slow down with the weekly washes (thank god for that!) as he is starting sweat a lot, and she said it's mostly likely an imbalance due to washing him so much to help with the demodex.
Rubertsbooks - He is raw fed
