so just been over the field with sonic on her long lead, there was no one really around so i let the lead trail most the time whilst kicking her football. anyway i became aware of a guy with a collide so called sonic back and picked up her lead. the guy approached and the dog (who was off lead) comes straight over to say hello. sonic said hello very nicely but then went back to her ball and the guy said 'oh that's a nice dog why the lead' so i said ' oh its the teenage phase and her recall isn't great at the moment' to which he replied 'oh poppy doesn't listen to me but its ok she is friendly not like those devil dogs' to which i replied 'devil dogs?' and he said ' yes those staffie dog' to which i smiled sweetly and said ' oh sonic did you hear that you are a devil dog' the guy got a bit flustered and said ' oh, um maybe they are not all too bad but i would never fully trust one' so i said ' i am not sure you can ever fully trust any dog, its all about responsible ownership' he just started to argue back when this puppy came running over with two youngish kids yelling it to stop with a lead and collar in their hands. sonic approached the puppy and said hello nicely, i was just about to pick it up for the kids when the collie came over and pinned it down. the guy pulled his dog off and said 'oh i wish you would stop doing that' the puppy looked ok and i just looked at the guy and said ' hmm very trustworthy isn't she...maybe you should invest in some training' turned round and walked off.....just made me smile!

Very good, what gets me is that if sonic had snapped at the collie it would be all your fault. On my walks with lola i come across atleast 3 or 4 dogs with no leads. Just training lola to keep walking past them.

People believe that just because a dog is not deem dangerous it needs no training. Which is bull cause all dogs needs training irrespective of breed.

Well done to you and Sonic though I think you both gave that irresponsible man something to think about.

It sounded like your encounter was so typical of small minded people. Why is it that any incident is never the fault of the owner with the dog that is off lead and out of control. Well done for your quick thinking and responce.
