Growling
Lana is not at all aggressive in my eyes, but, she growls very loudly when playing, I mean with her toys. She loves to bring them to us growling very loudly, she has no objection to anyone taking them and throwing them. She isn't very good at playing 'Go Fetch', as in bringing back and dropping for another throw but is getting better. I worry that my neighbours think she is aggressive because she growls so much when we play with her. Is it normal or should I be worried? She honestly doesnt object to anything being taken from her, food or toys.

Re: Growling
Not something I can say I've experienced though Tommy does sometimes drowl when being handled ( unaggressive and no teeth etc more grumbling than growling) From what you write here doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about but just watch the body language

Re: Growling
I don't think Daisy is aggressive either but when we play tug of war it sounds like she's going to kill me! But it is just during play, she would never go for me if I took the toy off her.

Re: Growling
It is the only time she is 'vocal' and seems very happy, I wasn't sure whether it needed to be addressed as she does it when people come to the house and of course they don't get that it is normal 'play' for her (we as a family take it as her inviting us to play with her) I suppose I just worry about how other people outside the household view her. But she is completely soft and gentle!

Staffs are very vocal, but dogs growling in play is nothing to worry about, just watch body language and you will soon learn what is play and what isn't

Very normal. My old labrador was the same, very vocal but wouldn't harm a fly.

Re: Growling
Kerry's growling really worried us until we realised it was a totally different sort of growl to the aggressive one uses towards a dog she sees as a threat. It's simply her saying she's excited and wants us to play with her.
Re: Growling
Tip is also very vocal but she barks more than growl. As long as their bdy language shows no agression it is purely play.
