Re: how many feeds are too many??
really she should be on at least 3 meals a day as the guidelines tend to be
up to 12 weeks - 4 meals a day
12 weeks - 6 months - 3 meals
6 months - for life - 2 meals
Although at 9-10 months a lot of people (me included) then feed once a day
Keep offering her the 3 meals and make sure they are spread out so that she is getting hungry in between

Re: how many feeds are too many??
definitely! I would never recommend free feeding and leaving the food out all day. Better to give set meals so yes take it away

Tip eats kibble three times a day and she finishes it all. Free feeding is NOT a good idea as you won't be able to tell if they go off their food if they get sick. Loss of appetite is an early warning that my dogs are not feeling ok. If she leave her bowl and there is any food left we pick it up.

Re: how many feeds are too many??
We feed Bruno 3 times a day but most of the time he leaves some. We've started taking it away so he's hungry at the next meal time otherwise we found he was leaving some then picking at it until the next meal time. Which meant he wasn't very hungry so he'd leave even more.
We put it down for 10 minutes then take it up and if he hasn't eaten he waits til next meal time. He's eating more and more since we started.

I'm a real meany.
If Dempey does't finish his food at the first sitting, it gets taken away. I don't even leave it for 10 minutes!
