Re: my girl is bitting everything
Hey mate. First off, welcome to the forums.
I've had terrific luck using the "yell and stop" technique.
Whenever a dog bites you, yell loudly (as if in surprised pain! YIPE) and immediately end whatever you're doing.
For example, you're playing tug-of-war, and the dog bites your hand. yell "YIPE" (or a sound) immediately end the game, and turn around.
After a while of this (in all situations) the dog discovers that the biting is causing the activity to end, and generally they stop biting.
I'm sure there are other suggestions as well to follow.
Good luck.

Re: my girl is bitting everything
My staff is in fetal stages right now... roughly about 4 weeks from birth.
However, this trick has worked on;
1 Shepherd/Huskie Mix
1 Great Dane
1 Schnoodle
1 Sheltie
and 2 Cats

Re: my girl is bitting everything
Hi StaffyPeg,
How old is your Staffy??????
You could also try a stern "NO"
or Yelping like a pup or her Mother would do.
I also have a young female Staffy (Roxy) currently 17 weeks old who I have the very same problem with. She is also my first ever Staffy. It is a lot of hard work , and you need to find a method which works for you and your dog. Most things I've tried just get her more excited having the opposite effect that i'm after.
With perseverence (spelling????) things will improve. We still have issues with Roxy, but the level and frequency of biting/nipping has improved.
Good luck.

You and me both mate. Right now I just have the cat. My pets have almost all passed on one and all. I got a staff to save the space.
Largely I learned these tricks back when I used to Foster, before I moved into my apartment.

Re: my girl is bitting everything
Hi & welcome. Don't worry about your english, it's very good!
How old is your pup?
The problem with puppies biting is that it is a natural way for them to play - they will have played that way with their brothers & sisters. However, they need to be shown that this is not acceptable with people.
The way I've always done it, is as soon as the pup starts biting I say a stern & deep "No!" and turn away. From the second the pup starts to bite all interraction stops - no play, no touching, no talking, don't even look at her! If she carries on, then without a word, pick her up & put her out of the room, or in to her crate (if you use one). As soon as she is calm again, you can go back to her and give her gentle and quiet praise. If she starts again, repeat what you did before.
Make sure that you play with her a lot so that she isn't doing it out of boredom, but make sure that the play doesn't get out of hand by doing the above!
It will get boring & it will get on your nerves, but it will, eventually, work!
P.S. We'd love to see some pics of your girl!
