Does your dog enjoy having his/her teeth brushed? If not, how do you deal with it? Smile

Nah, that's fair enough! Smile Some dogs can go without anyway, mainly depending on the individual dog and their diet.

Dempsey hates it! He snapped the head off a toothbrush with one bite - I had to dig it out of his throat before he swallowed it! Laughing I've heard that it helps to put a broom handle across their mouth to hold their jaws open, but I'm pretty sure staffies and bull terriers would just go right through it! Tongues

I voted that he doesn't like it- Rocky actually destroyed a toothbrush, we spent quite a bit of money on, the first time we used it on him Laughing After that just reverted to an ordinary one of ours along with his doggy toothpaste, which isn't that bad.

His teeth are in very good condition, so the vet always says anyway.Big Grin

We use cheap ones for Dempsey. Tongues His front teeth are easy enough, if you can stop him from trying to lick the toothpaste away. It's the back ones that are difficult.

Laughing Aww, bless him! Dempsey does that when he licks yoghurt pots - gets it everywhere apart from his mouth.

The last time I gave him some honey, he managed to get it all over his ears! Laughing

I'm ashamed to say I haven't brushed Kuchar's teeth yet. I look at his teeth every time he yawns and they look fine. I've got the special toothpaste and it's got all the good advice about letting the dog lick the toothpaste first etc, but he's such a wuss I just know that we'll have a fight! And yes I am ashamed of myself Blushing

Not all dogs need their teeth brushed, so I think it's down to whether or not he needs it. You know him best and if you're happy with his teeth, all's good! Tongues

Thank you Eleanor, I feel a bit better about it now! He's still young and his teeth look white and clean with no gum inflammation, but I am aware that as the only food he will eat is Wainwrights trays, which is soft, he will need to have his teeth brushed sooner or later, so I resolve to start getting him used to the idea - slowly, slowly.

Laughing Oh, what fun! You could try using your finger to start with, so that he'll know not to bite down. Smile
