Hello, would like your advice regarding the training methods for stopping biting//nipping

We have been reading that an affective way is to stop this is to "yelp" and ignore for one minute. If Ella is persistent then leave the room for a minute.

Would it not be more effective to remove HER from the situation, to a "boring" area of the home. ie no toys distractions etc.

It feels a bit like she is winning if we leave

Have a read through the link Dave posted it will help, it won't happen over night, patients & persistence is the key, she'll get there. Smile

they love attention so when you move yourself away they realise they've done wrong. It takes forever but my advice stick with it, it does get better

We are carrying out this method every time Ella nips at us. Just wondering if removing her from the situation is just as effective?

I'd stick to the yelping then she'll learn it's unacceptable it's about training her that she can't do it, you could always swap your fingers for a toy too Smile
